November 2021

Ms. Cooper's Corner

Can you believe the first quarter is complete?! Time really has been flying while our students are having fun learning! For the month of November, students will be focusing on community building. Students will be expanding on their knowledge of emotions and advocacy for self and others by working together in activities that will allow them to use their strengths to support their community.

Ms. Patchan's Place

Happy fall Marshall Family!

The focus for the month of November will be on building our community and celebrating one another. Students will be sharing ideas of what community looks like to them and elaborating on positive ways that we can make our community stronger!

Additionally, the SCA will be collecting canned goods and non-perishable items for our annual Turkey Drive! Students who wish to donate may drop off items in the main foyer of the building during school hours. We will be collecting items through November 22nd and then will be delivering these items to a local food bank so that families in need in our local community can have an amazing thanksgiving! If you have any questions feel free to reach out to me at patchacm@pwcs.edu.

One Quarter Down, Three More to Go!

The second quarter for students begins on Wednesday, November 3, 2021. Report cards will be going home for all students on Wednesday, November 10, 2021. This is a great opportunity to look at where your child is academically and continue the partnership with their teacher to support their growth. If you have questions regarding how to support your student's academic performance (test anxiety, study skills, etc.), do not hesitate to reach out to your student's grade level counselor!

Counseling Support Based on Student Needs

Prince William County Schools has elected to use a district-wide student and parent needs assessment to look at our current needs from a socio-emotional standpoint. This information is given to each school once results are received for the School Based Mental Health Team to review and create a plan of action to support student success. Our team has received our data and are currently in the process of analyzing the data to form individual and small groups. Once this part of the process is complete we will begin with our supplemental supports. Be on the lookout for this information during the first half of November!

No Place for Hate News

Our No Place for Hate Committee has met for the month of October! We are currently in the process of planning for our first event; stay tuned for more details!
