Book Fair
As I write this, our book fair is wrapping up its last night. We close our doors tomorrow morning, November 17. I am always excited for it to come, and even more excited for it to leave. I think we've had a pretty successful fair, and I hope to put books in your mailbox tomorrow morning. Thanks for your support.
Makerspace Success
I've been loving Makerspace Wednesdays, and I think students have too. So far, every session has filled up almost immediately after sending out the registration form. We'd love to have guests run sessions, so if you have a field of expertise, please share.
Funny Memes
When I was creating my new website, I looked for funny memes to add a little flair to my website. I was underwhelmed with what I found. I've decided to make my own. I'd love suggestions.
Grammarly Extension
One of the things I struggled with when I switched from Microsoft Word to Google Docs was the lack of a spell checker. If you are working in Google Chrome, the Grammarly extension easily fixes that. Not only does it spell check, but it checks for spelling contextually within the sentence. I would definitely recommend the extension if you don't already have it.
New Website
I hope by now you've had a chance to take a look at our new website. We are working on overhauling the library websites in all four buildings. Our goal is for consistency across the buildings. You will find AR, AR Bookfinder, and Booktalks under Reading. You will find Databases, Badgerlink and EasyBib under Researching. Learning includes links you would use in class, such as Teacher Websites, Odyssey and Learning. com. Creating is all about our Makerspace, and Teaching includes links for staff. Connecting is how students send me messages. I would welcome any feedback. Thanks!
Adopt-a-Shelf
The Adopt-A-Shelf program will be going on again this school year. Currently, we have 18 students signed up. Students pick a shelf that they will be responsible for, and they will devote time to shelving books on that shelf, straightening, and shelf-reading. This year, we will have a check-in sheet to see how frequently students are working. If you know a student who you think would like to participate, please direct them to the link on the media center homepage.
