Stanley Middle School

Week of December 5

December 2021

It is hard to believe we are full on in December. We are closing in on the end of the second nine weeks and the end of the first semester. These 12 days are busy days but fun days.

We have a can food drive competition for our local food bank. We have holiday door decorating contests. We have band and chorus concerts. We wrapped up a solid soccer season. We have our volleyball team in the play-offs. Our wrestling team competes in the county championship this Saturday. We also will dismiss early on Dec. 15 for the Stanley Christmas parade.

Please encourage your student to finish strong this semester.

PTO MEETING - TUESDAY, DECEMBER 7

A link for the meeting will be sent via email and also linked to the PTO page.

CAN FOOD DRIVE

We are excited that we will once again collect cans and non-perishable food for the Stanley Community Food Bank. This year, we will collect as grade levels with the winning grade level (most cans collected per grade level) being treated on Friday, December 17.

The can food drive will be held from December 1 - December 15 at dismissal.

There will be designated locations in the main lobby for students to place their items before going to class.

EARLY DISMISSAL - Wednesday, December 15

We will dismiss school at 12:15 on Wednesday, December 15 for the Stanley Christmas Parade.

All car riders need to be picked up by 12:40.

North Carolina STEM SCHOOL DESIGNATION

We are in the midst of a multi-year process of applying for and earning recognition as a North Carolina STEM School of Distinction. One part of that is to connect with various businesses men and women who are in the STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Math) field.

Additionally, we would like to make connections with parents who represent many careers. We are asking that our parents please complete the Google Form to help us build our Stanley STEM Network.

Thank you to those who have already completed the form. If you use STEM skills in anyway in your profession, we need you in one of many ways!
