Arkansas Governor's School 2018
- AGS is a six week summer program on the Hendrix College campus designed for Arkansas juniors with exceptional abilities, creativity, and the maturity to benefit from total immersion in a Socratic learning environment.
- The 2018 session will open June 10 and close July 21, with a mid-session break from 3:30 p.m. July 3 to 8:00 p.m. July 8.
- Interested students must be nominated by SJS, and the school is limited on the number of nominated students.
- Students accepted into the program will live in single-sex residential hall on the Hendrix campus, and roommates will be chosen at random.
- Students who are in the program attend classes, concerts, lectures, art exhibits, and theatrical performances and films, and have the opportunity to learn on their own and from distinguished faculty and staff.
- The curriculum emphasizes critical thinking and theory rather than practice.
- The atmosphere is one of intellectual excitement and curiosity.
- The program is funded through the State Department of Education, and participation for all selected students is free.
