Samuel Bouchard of Westview High School | Johns Hopkins University 2021 Global Health Leaders Conference

On behalf of the Board of Directors of The Global Health Leaders Conference at Johns Hopkins University, we would like to congratulate your student Samuel Bouchard for presenting in our 2021 GHLC at JHU program which was held virtually this past summer and concluded last month. Our international conference is a premier global health education program led by Johns Hopkins University students and faculty; at our conference, emerging global health leaders in grades 9-12 from around the world learn from one another and some of the world’s leaders in global health, public health, and medicine. In addition to Samuel, some of the speakers at our conference included the U.S. CDC’s Director of the Center for Global Health, a Nobel Laureate, and world-renowned professors, researchers, and physicians.

Samuel was one of the few students from Oregon admitted into our highly selective conference program this year. We sincerely thank Westview High School and your community for nurturing future leaders in global health and medicine - Samuel wonderfully represented Westview High School and the state of Oregon in our program. Our conference board members in addition to the student attendees were very inspired by his knowledge, curiosity, passion, and achievements; we very much appreciate Samuel's investment in the future of global health.

Again, our most sincere congratulations to Samuel as well as the Westview High School community! If you have any questions about his involvement in our conference or about the program itself, please do not hesitate to reach out.

Best regards,

Siam Rezwan

Chair of The Global Health Leaders Conference at JHU

Homecoming Dance

October 23rd. This will be a Junior and Senior only dance and will be outside. Tickets will go on sale the week of October 18th. We are operating under COVID guidelines that require spacing and capacity levels that do not allow us to hold a traditional all school dance. The plan is for juniors from 6:00pm - 8:00pm and seniors from 8:30pm-10:30 pm. More details will follow as we get closer to the date. We will work to having a dance that includes our 9th and 10th graders sometime this year.

Class Shirts

If your student missed school on the day shirts were distributed, we have a list and they can get their shirt from the main office before/after school or during lunches. We have distributed shirts to most of our 10th-12th grade students during their AT classes and after the senior meeting. Unfortunately, our 9th grade shirts are on backorder but should be here soon!

We love seeing our students proudly wearing their school colors!

Closed Campus

Please help us by reminding your student that we are closed campus. This means students are not allowed to leave campus and return without a parent or doctors appointment. This is most important during our lunches. We can not have students leave campus for lunch or go their cars.
