RED RIBBON WEEK ACTIVITIES
Monday: “Your Future is Key, So Stay Drug Free” -- During Enrichment (Monday and Tuesday) students will be given a key pattern to draw a picture of what they want to be when they grow up. These will be displayed on “key rings” in the hall by class. Red ribbons will be given to students by their homeroom teacher. They will be put in your boxes on Friday.
Tuesday: “We CAN Be Drug-Free” – We are asking students to bring a canned good that will be donated to a local food bank. Boxes will be located in the front foyer.
Wednesday: “We’ve Got Better Things to Do than Drugs” – During Enrichment and Music, 2nd-4th students will brainstorm fun things to do that without using drugs. There will be ten categories – music, sports/physical movement, art, building/inventing, technology, using your mind (such as reading or using math), with family, with friends, with animals, or that are relaxing. These will be displayed by grade level in the hall across from the cafeteria. In Kg and 1st, students will be given a paper “I’ve Got Better Things to Do than Drugs” and they can draw a picture of three things they do to have fun. First graders can write a sentence for each one. These can be given to the classroom teacher to display in the hallway.
Thursday: “I Pledge to Be Drug-Free” – During Enrichment and Music, students will get the opportunity to sign a banner pledging to understand the dangers of drug use and abuse, to respect themselves and be drug-free, and spread the word to family and friends about the importance of being healthy and drug-free.
Friday: “Jump Away from Drugs, Alcohol & Tobacco” and “Be Drug-Free… It’s a Slam Dunk” – These activities will be done during Fly Friday.
