Have an Amazing Weekend!
Dear Kennebunk High School Families:
I hope everyone had a great week.
It is homecoming weekend, which means there is a dance tonight from 7:00-10:00 PM in the Gymnasium. Tickets have been on sale all week. No tickets will be sold at the door (this has been announced daily). It's very important that kids make great choices tonight. School rules are in effect. We want this to be a great experience for our students and we expect that they will respect the dance rules and have a great time!
Student Parking:
Student vehicles must be registered with Officer Champlin. If your student has not registered their vehicle and been given a parking pass please click HERE. Please make sure to read the information associated with the application. Please stop down and see Officer Champlin (if you have registered) with your driver's license, proof of registration, and insurance card.
Flu Shots:
Kennebunk High School will hold a flu shot clinic on November 3rd from 11-2:00 PM - More information to come.
Reminders:
Each Wednesday is a Late Start so that staff can have some time for professional development. Classes start promptly at 9:00 AM. Please plan ahead for additional traffic to the high school at this time of day.
Twitter:
Twitter is something that I have tended to use throughout my career. If you would like to follow for updates please go to @principalkhs.
Kennebunk High School has won a 2022 College Success Award
We are proud to announce that Kennebunk High School has received GreatSchools.org’s 2022 College Success Award!
Kennebunk High School is one of 1,742 public high schools in 25 states to be honored with an annual College Success Award, which recognizes and celebrates high schools like ours that demonstrate excellence in ensuring students are prepared to succeed in college.
Now in its fifth year, the College Success Award is based on data that show how our school prepares students to succeed after high school, including whether they enroll in college, are ready for college-level coursework, and persist into their second year.
We applaud the hard work of the entire KHS community — including students, parents, teachers, and others that aspire to help our students succeed in college and beyond. We invite you to join in the celebration of our 2022 College Success Award!

PSAT
Kennebunk High School is once again generously offering the PSAT this year on October 12th, 2022. It is optional, but there are at least two reasons your student might want to sign up. First, it is good practice for the SAT, which we will also offer later this year. Not all schools are requiring the SAT for admission, but some still do, so it can save you money. Second, the PSAT doubles as the National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test (NMSQT), so by taking the test, students may be automatically recognized for their achievement with a scholarship.
Your students can sign themselves up, but if you want to take care of this for them, please complete this form by 10/1/22.
NHS Teacher Assistants
Kennebunk High School Introduces,
Teacher Assistants!
This year at Kennebunk High School, the National Honor Society members will be helping out as teacher assistants in a variety of classes. As teacher assistants, the NHS members plan to provide support to a lead teacher in charge of a classroom. Not only will the TAs help teachers with administrative tasks, they will also be active participants in a class, helping students with both individual tasks and group work. Throughout the year the TAs plan to make connections that will go further than in the classroom. Being a TA is important to every one of the NHS members here at KHS, and they hope to support students develop confidence in the classroom and beyond. Both Ms. Carlson and Dr. Hubacz are supervising the TAs this year!
In addition, every Monday after school until 3-3:30 Ruby Sliwkowski and Mrs. Vaughn will offer tutoring in Room C122. This is a drop in program where students can get help in all subjects. Don’t hesitate to come on down!

Visiting Colleges & Universities
In order to attend, you must sign-up through Naviance and also talk with your teacher about missing some of your academic class on the day of the visit(you will need a pass from them to attend). Most teachers will be flexible if it is discussed in advance but you may not be able to attend due to a test or other special circumstances. No worries, if you let guidance know you are interested in the school but can't attend the information session, we are happy to collect materials from the meeting and pass along contact information for the representative. Believe it or not, colleges keep track of how many times you connect with the college either through a college fair, campus visit or school information session, so use this opportunity to your benefit. It displays your interest in the college and could impact your admission decision.
A few of the visits are actually virtual and you will still need to sign-up for these meetings through Naviance. If you are in school at the time and will need a place to take part in the meeting, let the guidance office know in advance and we will do what we can to find you a place to sit while the meeting is in session.
Below is the current list of schools scheduled to visit but the list is constantly changing and if you don't see the name of a school you are interested in, please stop by guidance and let us know.
Please let me know if you have any questions.
