YEAR 3 - MOTHER’S DAY
Kind, thoughtful, nice, important, lovely, remarkable, extraordinary, the best. These are the words of the Year 3’s to describe their mums. The Year 3’s have delighted in making something special for their mum’s this week. To all the mum’s, mother’s, mummy’s, ma’s and mama’s, we wish you all a special Mother’s Day this Sunday and thank you for all your hard work, dedication and love each day.
Mother’s Day Prayer
Dear Lord, We pray for new mothers, who give life and tend to our every need; may they be blessed with patience and tenderness to care for their families and themselves with great joy. We pray for our own mothers who have nurtured and cared for us; may they continue to guide us in strong and gentle ways. We remember mothers who are separated from their children because of war, poverty or conflict; may they feel the loving embrace of our God who wipes away every tear. We pray for women who are not mothers but still love and shape us with motherly care and compassion. We remember mothers, grandmothers, and great grandmothers who are no longer with us but who live forever etched in our memory, with love. Amen.
Message from the Principal
Dear Parents and Carers
Mother’s Day
A mother or carer plays such a significant role in the development of a child. A mother is a teacher in every aspect of a child’s growth from their spiritual, social emotional, physical and cognitive development. We thank all mothers and carers in the OLOM school community for their tireless dedication to their children and family. We hope all mothers and carers have a wonderful day on Sunday and that you are deservedly acknowledged for your selflessness and the love and support you provide your children.
The month of May is dedicated to Mother Mary. The Blessed Virgin Mary is the Mother of the Church and an example of how we can be a servant of God. I encourage you and your family to take time this month to pray the Hail Mary together.
On Friday children will have the opportunity to purchase a Mother’s Day gift. I would like to thank the ladies who tirelessly worked on making high quality home-made gifts for the children to buy for Mother’s Day. We deeply appreciate the many hours it would have taken to make these gifts and these ladies' commitment to our school community is applaudable. I would also like to thank the P&F for putting on the Mother’s Day stall event. Mother’s Day is the event that was allocated to the Kindy classes. I thank the Kindy parents and members of the P&F who have volunteered to help at the Mother’s Day stall on Friday.
Moral Purpose
Our staff is in the process of developing a moral purpose for our school. We are seeking parent input into this statement. On Monday next week you will see paper up on the windows in our undercover area and on the counter in the front office. We would like parents and carers to draw a picture or write some words that tell us what you are hoping for in the life and educational outcomes for your children at our school. Parents/carers will have a week to provide us with this feedback, which will then be used to formulate our moral purpose statement.
Safer Communities Grant
We are in the process of receiving final payment for the installation of the sliding gates at our kiss and drive entry and exit points as well as security cameras that were installed at school. We thank the Safer Communities Fund for this grant money which has been used to add security for our school community.
God bless you all.
