GPPSS Update

Board shares legal counsel advising against masking resolution
President Herd spoke with members of the Board of Education and waived the attorney client privilege attached to the memo from Clark Hill law firm regarding the pending Masking Resolution. By waiving this privilege GPPSS can now share this opinion with staff and the community, better allowing our stakeholders to fully understand the advice the District has been provided in this matter.
Thankful for you
All Grosse Pointe Family and Consumer Sciences classes district wide are teaming up to provide Thanksgiving meals for homeless people in Metro Detroit through the Motor City Mitten Mission. This week we wanted to send a great big THANK YOU to the 85 families who filled the sign-up genius in last week's GPPSS Update. Together they donated over 200 items -- from turkeys to roasting pans. This generosity of spirit is what makes our community such a great place to live, work, and raise our families.
Eight GPPSS seniors honored by Lake Shore Optimists
Keegan, Andrew and Maelisa also received Optimist Memorial Scholarship Awards.
Dr. Roy Bishop, Jr., GPPSS Deputy Superintendent for Educational Services, was the keynote speaker.

How to upload student vaccine records
Parents and guardians can upload their student's COVID vaccine card using the MiStar Parent Portal by following the directions linked here. According to quarantine guidelines from the Wayne County Health Department, any student who is fully vaccinated will not be required to quarantine if they are identified as a close contact to a COVID positive individual. Uploading your student’s vaccine card will help the district quickly identify those students who will not be required to quarantine. Thank you!

Please take the Fall Sports Survey by 11/23
Each season we ask parents and student athletes to provide input on their most recent sports experience - in this case fall 2021. The survey only takes a few minutes to complete, but provides valuable information to continuously improve our programs and services. There are two versions - one for parents and one for student athletes. The fall sports surveys will close at 4 p.m., Tuesday 11/23. Thank you for your feedback!
