The Water Horse Movie Night
The Water Horse Movie Night
March 5, 2020
3:30 - 5:30pm
Thank you for participating in our One Book One School Program by reading The Water Horse as a family! To celebrate finishing the book, you are invited to watch the movie The Water Horse with your child on March 5, 2020 at Eagle River Elementary School in the LGI. The movie will start around 3:45 and end around 5:30. Popcorn and water will be served. Parents you can meet your kids at school to watch the whole movie or be here by 5:15 to pick up. You can join us part way through if that works better for your schedule. Send a pillow or small blanket with your child to make a comfy spot to sit and watch the movie. Any questions please contact Ms. Davis at jdavis@npsd.k12.wi.us or 715-479-6471 ext 3314
Disclaimer - the movie is very different from the book, has a strong focus on WWII and soldiers in the village. It is rated PG.

Virtues
Tact is telling the truth kindly, with consideration for your words will affect others. It is knowing what to say and what is better left unsaid. Tact is thinking before you speak. When you are tactful, you don't tease or point out people's differences to embarrass them. You are as careful about other's feelings as you would like them to be of yours.
Here are some questions to discuss with your child regarding tact:
- When did you feel embarrassed by something someone said tactlessly?
- How do people feel when they have a handicap or physical difference that people tease them about?
- How do you think they would like to be treated?
- What will you do the next time you come across someone who looks different?
- Come up with a tactful way to respond when others start gossiping and you don't want to?
- How could you tell something difficult to your best friend?
- When do you need people to be tactful with you?
- Name three ways you can be more tactful with people in your family.
Thanks for your support!
ELA
Dear Family Member:
This week our class will be focusing on leadership. We will talk about how one person’s thoughts or actions can make a difference for others.
Here are some activities that you can do with your child to help reinforce the skills we’ll be practicing.
Comprehension: cause and effect
You and your child will read a story about some ants who lose their anthill and what they do about it. Then you will think about what caused the events in the story to happen.
