Monday-Picture Retake Day
Tuesday-Science Test on Sound-A review sheet went home on Thursday.
Wednesday-Early Dismissal-11:55 am-End of the Marking Period
Thursday-Field Trip to Churchville Nature Center-8:45 AM-2:00 PM-Dress for the weather as we are outdoors all day. Also, pack a disposable bag lunch and a drink. If your child needs emergency medications (epi pens, inhalers, Benadryl, etc.) please send that in also.

Building Instrument Day
Building Instrument
We ended our Sound Unit in Science by building instruments.
On Hands Learning
The kids made some really cool instruments and learned first hand how to change the pitch and the volume.

We had several moms that volunteered to come in and help the kids out. Thank you so much to the following moms: Mrs. Chase, Mrs. DiRoberto, Mrs. Kraus, Mrs. Orford, Mrs. Tippets, and Mrs. Veneziale.
Curriculum for the Week
Social Studies
We will be beginning our Native American Unit this week. Our field trip this week to the Churchville Nature Center is a great "kick off" to the unit. At the nature center we will be learning about how the Lenape tribe lived. The children will learn how they farmed, cooked, hunted and played. They will also get to go in a replica wigwam and long house.
Reading
This week the chidlren will be taking several Core assessments. They will take both a fiction and nonfiction test. I will give one on Wednesday and another on Friday.
We will be also be reading Native American Stories. We will be focusing on the skills of main idea and details.
Math
This skill for this week will be the following:
- explorations with base ten blocks, time and geoboards
- gathering data
- frames-and-arrows
Writing
On Tuesday the children will take a test on grammar skills that we have been reviewing.
They will need to know the following:
- common and proper nouns
- using a uppercase letter to begin a sentence
- using punctuation marks to end a sentence.
Spelling
We will be working on Sort 14 which is short and long o. Please remember to have your child practice their spelling words using the Spelling City website https://www.spellingcity.com/gayman/. Please look for Sort 14 for this week's words.
