AERA Minority Dissertation Fellowship in Education Research: Now Accepting Applications!
Deadline: November 1, 2016
The American Educational Research Association (AERA) is pleased to announce the AERA Minority Dissertation Fellowship in Education Research. The Council of the AERA established the fellowship program to provide support for doctoral dissertation research, to advance education research by outstanding minority graduate students, and to improve the quality and diversity of university faculties. This fellowship is targeted for members of racial and ethnic groups historically underrepresented in higher education (e.g., African Americans, Alaskan Natives, American Indians, Asian Americans, Hispanics or Latinos, and Native Hawaiian or Pacific Islanders). This program offers doctoral fellowships to enhance the competitiveness of outstanding minority scholars for academic appointments at major research universities. It supports fellows conducting education research and provides mentoring and guidance toward the completion of their doctoral studies.

Join the American Educational Research Association (AERA) at a Reduced Rate!
2017 AERA Doctoral Student Cohort Program
Membership through December 31, 2017
We are pleased to inform you that we are partnering with the American Educational Research Association (AERA) to offer you a reduced dues’ rate for the 2017 membership year along with 2016 membership. The special offer is available to all doctoral students who will be joining AERA for the first time. As the most recognized education research membership organization, AERA’s primary goal is to advance education research and its practical application. Its more than 25,000 members include educators, administrators, counselors, researchers, evaluators and graduate students. AERA’s Annual Meeting engages over 15,000 attendees each year. The upcoming AERA Annual Meeting is being held on April 27-May 1, 2017 in San Antonio, Texas.
Go to www.aera.net/cohort2017 and create a username and password by scrolling down on the Login page and click on the button “Activate or Create My Account” and on the next page select “Create a New Account.” Provide your email address and you will be directed to an online form to complete. You will be asked to enter the Doctorate Program Code of 2017cohort. Be sure to answer the question “Name of School that you attend:” do a word search for “Georgia” and select University of Georgia.
Please use a credit card to pay your portion of the dues. Your total cost for membership is $25.
The deadline to sign up for first-time AERA member is February 15, 2017. The sooner you join, the more time you will have to access the complimentary member benefits for 2016 along with membership through December 31, 2017.

COE Scholarships Available!
The College of Education offers several scholarships to help ease the financial burden for COE students. Last academic year, 45 students were awarded scholarship funds totaling over $147,000. Refer to the Fall 2016 Scholarship Guide before submitting materials. The deadline to apply is Wednesday, September 28, 2016 at 5:00pm. Recommendation letters can be submitted here. edTPA Tip of the Week
Pearson Customer Support (which provides infrastructure for the edTPA submission process) offers Live Chat, 12 pm – 6 pm EST, on Wednesdays and Thursdays. Ask questions about supported file types and sizes, score report dates, or anything about the submission process, and you will get instant answers!
Occasionally, there are technical problems during the submission process, so you might want to plan to submit your portfolio during the Live Chat hours.
