Welcome to our Class Family!

For those new to Wixom, you will soon find out! I feel so lucky to be a part of the Wixom family. It is with great joy and anticipation that I meet you and your child! Kindergarten is an exciting time full of growth, discovery and learning. I look forward to a fun and successful year together.

School Supplies
The majority of your child’s school supplies will be provided in the classroom, but with budget restrictions, we are asking for parents’ help in obtaining the supplies we need. A copy of the supply list can be found on the school website. If you are unable to provide any of the supplies, just let me know. Please do not put your child’s name on any of the supplies, (except backpack) as we use a community supply system. Please send in the supplies as soon as you are able. It would be great if you could bring them with to the Meet Your Teacher event on Monday, August 27 from 4-6 pm. Your child will also need a waterproof backpack (larger sized/labeled with your child's name). Please make sure this is sent in daily to transport items back and forth. We also ask that your child has a full change of clothes to be kept in your child’s backpack in case of any accidents, etc., especially socks as the weather becomes cold and damp. Please put the extra clothes in a ziploc bag with your child's name written on it.

Celebrating Birthdays
Birthdays are special days. I would like to make your child’s birthday a meaningful one. We are asking that parents do not send in any food related treats to celebrate birthdays. We have many allergies and also, these treats tend to be very messy, disruptive and many feelings are hurt when a child does not have a traditional treat to share. We will take time out of our day to celebrate your child’s special day but we will not be having food, cupcakes or other birthday treats as part of that celebration. If you would like to send in a non-food treat for the class (like pencils, stickers, tattoos, a book to donate to the class) or if you would like to come in and read a book to the class, please let me know. Summer birthdays can be celebrated on the half birthdays, just let me know!

Communication
The key to a successful year is open communication. I will be communicating with you regularly. Our main form of communication will be electronic. I will provide you with more information shortly. Again, please do not hesitate to contact me throughout the year with your questions or concerns. Thank you for your cooperation and support. I am truly looking forward to working with your child and family this year!
