SCHOOL HIGHLIGHTS
College Pathways!
The College Going Culture committee held the second student focus group of the year, College Pathways. Students were invited to attend the second Focus Group of the year. The discussion topic was College Pathways and provided a better understanding of what students know or need to know about becoming college bound. It provided our faculty and staff with reflective questions on how we can refine our practices and create additional opportunities for our students based on their needs and curiosity.

NICU Fall Teacher Grant $500
Teachers,
North Island Credit Union, a division of California Credit Union which happens to have a long history of supporting education, is awarding $500 grant to teachers for a wide variety of programs from STEAM initiatives to building libraries to special education.
It's a short application and should take less that 20 minutes to complete. The three fields within the grant application that teachers will need to have ready (beyond the basics- name, email, etc...): Project objective, Schedule, and Budget. These fields allow only about 100 words-so it's a short write up. Please consider applying if you feel could benefit from this grant.

COMMUNITY INFORMATION
City of Chula Vista Youth Action Council (YAC)
Teachers: Please share with your students in grades 10, 11, or 12.
From the Chula Vista City Council...
Mayor Mary Casillas Salas is requesting assistance in the recruitment of youth for our Youth Action Council (YAC). The YAC is composed of Chula Vista high school students in grades 10, 11, or 12. The YAC establishes a communication link between Chula Vista youth and the City Council. Members are primarily engaged in a variety of community service projects that initiate outreach to their neighbors and peers. The YAC also provides opportunities for students to connect with their community and become informed stakeholders. Additionally, students can earn community services hours for those who are looking to fulfill this graduation requirement. The Mayor would love to see the involvement of your network of high school students in this program and we would really appreciate your help in getting the word out.
