From the Principal
Happy National Public Schools Week! This week we celebrate all the hard work school staff, stakeholders and other organizations put into public education.
We appreciate all the families who came out to parent-teacher conferences last week. Thank you for taking the time to partner with us in your child's education. One more huge shout out to the hospitality committee for feeding us during these two longer days. It was amazing!
We are also very excited to announce the flexible seating that PTO purchased for our scholars in honor of Mr. Diacon's service to Sunflower has arrived. Check out the pictures below of scholars choosing seating options that work best for them!
Finally, below are the average daily attendance rates by grade level. Way to go 3rd grade for having the highest attendance rate last week! In addition the following classrooms have earned at least one letter for having perfect attendance this week: Alvarado, Beauford, King, Snook and Robertson. Once classes spell the word PERFECT we will celebrate with a popcorn party.
Kdg: 91.8%
1st: 94.6%
2nd: 93.5%
3rd: 96.6%
4th: 92.2%
5th: 89.1%
I am looking forward to seeing everyone at our movie night this Friday!
As always it is an honor to serve as the principal of Sunflower Elementary.

From The Librarian
Hello Sunflower Families! Read Across America Day is quickly approaching and our school is looking for community volunteers to read to classes on March 2.
This would be a short commitment (15-20 minutes) and we have time slots available throughout the day! Community Readers are welcome to bring their own books or borrow one from the library here. This is a great way to share the love of reading with students, as well as create community involvement.
If you or someone you know may be interested in participating, please email me at: amy.bones@usd497.org so I can send you an invitation!
Thank-you!
