From the desk of Mrs. Frank!
Happy May!
It is amazing to realize that this is the last month of school already! This has been a great year at Owens. We have had many successes and many fun events. There are opportunities for all of our students to attend or complete summer school. I hope that you will take advantages of the extra summer support. Thank you, families, for your continued support of our staff and your students. I tell everyone that Owens is the number 1 school in America and I truly believe that. We will be having meet the teacher on August 24th. More information will be shared in August. Have a safe and fun summer!

A Note from the Nurse – Planning for next school year:
*As the end of the school year approaches, we would like to remind you to pick up any medications you provided to the school clinic this year. According to CFISD Board policy FFAC (local), medications must be retrieved from the clinic by a parent/guardian or designated responsible adult. Please make arrangements to pick-up your student’s medications by __5__/_25TH___ no later than __3:00 p.m.
Medications not collected by this deadline will be disposed of according to CFISD policy. This includes all students that are attending summer school as well. Medication must be picked up from Owens by an adult and transported to the summer school the student is attending by an adult.
The summer is a good time to get updated doctor action plans for those with allergies, seizures, asthma, and other health concerns, as the actions plans are required to be new each year. For students with medications this year that have action plans, blank ones will be sent home at medication pick up. Here is the link for those health forms if needed: https://www.cfisd.net/Page/1922
*Immunization Reminder
Immunization requirements must be up to date before the first day of school attendance in the 2023-24 school year.
For current early entry and pre-kindergarteners that are going into kindergarten for 2023-24 school year, they need to have their 4-year-old immunizations up to date with the clinic. If your student has received the 4-year-old shots, please submit them to the clinic to be ready for next year.

*During the 2022-23 school year after health screenings, if your student brought home or a referral was emailed for vision, hearing, spinal, or Acanthosis nigricans, please return any follow up doctor notes to the clinic.
* Our Jackrabbit Clinic is in desperate need of shorts and long pants size 4 - 16 for both girls and boys. Please consider donating to the clinic before dropping your student’s old clothes off at a donation spot.
* Strep, Covid, Pinkeye, and Flu…OH MY! The season is still upon us, so keep a watch on your kiddos. Encourage proper hand washing and healthy practices at home and out and about. Symptoms like vomiting, diarrhea, persistent coughing, headache, or sore throat should be taken seriously. If you suspect that your child may be showing symptoms of illness, please keep him/her home from school until the symptoms have improved. Also, if your student has a fever at/over 100.0 he/she will need to be kept home until fever free without medication for 24 hours. We greatly appreciate your help in keeping our students and staff healthy!
