From the desk of Mrs. Wyman...

Hello parents,

I love the cool, fall air and the changes the season of fall brings each year to Central Illinois. November brings the first concert and the second mid-term of the school year, as well as the start of the holidays.

During the month of November, Mrs. Hobson and Mrs. Baker will be sharing information with our students about safe bodies. Please take a moment to read the Erin's Law parent letter link below for detailed information about these presentations. If you have questions, please reach out to Mrs. Hobson or I to discuss.

We will have the opportunity to gather food, paper products, and some household items to give away in our PTO Christmas Baskets. A flyer will be coming home soon with specifics. The Food Drive will run from November 15-December 3. We appreciate any and all donations, large or small.

Our first popcorn day of the year will be November 19. The cost for a bag of popcorn or a fruit snack pack is $ .25. Please send the money with your child on Thursday, November 18. Each child may purchase up to 1 item/popcorn day.

This month also brings the first opportunity for Scoops and Scones. This is a new opportunity for parents to come enjoy some coffee and scones in the workroom, while meeting other parents and learning a little about what is happening at school. The scones and coffee will be available beginning at 8:30am. Feel free to join us for a few minutes or stay until 9:30am. We can't wait to see you and hope this becomes a new way to connect with parents.

As we head into the next few weeks, we ask you to keep a close eye on our school and district calendar as there is so much going on and we don't want you to miss out! Have a blessed time with your family in the month ahead and count your blessings!

Erin's Law

It is time again for our annual Erin’s Law Presentations. Erin’s Law (PA97-1147) passed in 2014 and mandates that Illinois public schools provide training to certified staff on prevention of child sexual abuse. It also mandates that public school children pre-kindergarten through 12th grade be educated on body safety rules and how to protect themselves from a perpetrator. This program is designed to introduce elementary students to the subject of child sexual abuse in an easy to understand, non-threatening way. Lessons at Jefferson will be during the month of November and will be presented to each classroom by the school social worker.
