Safe Routes to School Program
The City of Fishers is exploring the implementation of a Safe Routes to School program in the Fishers community, and has partnered with Harrison Parkway Elementary on a pilot project. Safe Routes is a national program that works with community leaders to build better sidewalks, improve pedestrian crossings, teach children safer walking skills, and promote healthier, more active lifestyles. The program offers a variety of walks and contests your student may choose to participate in. Many, many volunteers are needed to deliver this exciting program. Please sign on at the HPE Volunteer Spot at http://vols.pt/Pv4NAa. A parent information packet which provides details of the pilot program was sent home with your child on March 11th or March 12th. It is also available at the City of Fishers website www.Fishers.in.us/SafeRoutes.
The HPE Walking Wednesdays will be March 25 and April 1. Please be mindful that everyone should be watchful of students walking to school on those days. Thank you.
