Cohort A, B, and D Student Attending School Remotely
We have had several students participating in the hybrid model who have emailed teachers saying they were not feeling well and will be participating remotely. While we certainly are remaining as flexible as we can during these unprecedented times with regard to attendance, parents need to be the ones who contact our attendance officer, (Ann Spross aspross@gatewayhs.com) to confirm an absence. We cannot rely on student communication to teachers as confirmation of an absence. We also want to make sure the school and parents are on the same page and know if the student is home or in the building.
Students should contact teachers if they are not feeling well and will be participating remotely on a particular day. However, parents MUST also contact Mrs. Spross.
Again, we will be as flexible as we can but we need your cooperation to make this process a smooth one.
If you have any other questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to contact me.
COVID-19 Guidelines
- Any individual with COVID-19 symptoms should stay home and contact their healthcare provider. These symptoms are listed on the daily health screening you complete
- If someone in your household is sick or being tested for COVID-19 due to illness, students should stay home until the test result is received.
- Siblings of a student who has symptoms and meets criteria should be excluded from school until the symptomatic individual receives a negative test result.

Seniors Helping Seniors
For example, Mr. and Mrs. Smith from Woodbury Heights need their patio furniture moved into their garage for the winter. They can call or email the school and the coordinator will return their call and make arrangements. The coordinator will assemble a group of students and make arrangements for transportation to the Smiths' home and accompany the seniors.
This program is designed for the students to give back to the community and the senior citizens to get help with projects that may be difficult for them to handle without assistance. Everything will be done with consideration to COVID-19 protocols. Please feel free to share information about the Seniors Helping Seniors initiative with those in the community that benefit from the program.
To participate or with any questions or comments please reach out to Cindy Norton at Gateway (cnorton@gatewayhs.com).
