Notes from East Hill Elementary

Message from East Hill Principal
Dear East Hill Families,
I would like to take this opportunity to thank our PTA for providing East Hill with the Makerspace event last Saturday! Although I could not be there due to illness I have seen many photos and received feedback from students, families, and staff that it was a HUGE success! I would like to also thank the incredible volunteers from the firm of Barton and Loguidice, the Fairmount Library, Officer Clarke, Mrs. MacArthur, and Mrs. Mingolelli for their support during the event. Thank you to all the families and staff that were able to attend. We look forward to another Makerspace next year!
Our grade 3 students had a fabulous field trip today to The Most! Please see pictures below.
Winter weather is still here! Please be sure your child has their outdoor gear everyday (hat, mittens, coat, boots, snow pants). We have a large number of clothing articles in our lost and found. Please label all belongings and if your child is missing anything please remind them to check the lost and found.
As a reminder, there will be no school for students on Monday, March 13 for a Staff Superintendent's Conference Day.
Enjoy the weekend!
Sincerely,
Susan Meskos

Health and Wellness Update from PE
While we are waiting for Spring weather to arrive a great place to check out is Central Rock Gym. CRG is located in Franklin Square and has great youth programs for first time climbers and affordable day passes. The staff is very friendly and trained in all areas of climbing and bouldering and safety is a top priority. Check out the website for more information. https://centralrockgym.com/syracuse/
Easy, Healthy Kid Friendly Dinner Idea (with or without Chicken)
Ooooy, goooey, cheese is a favorite among many elementary school students. Try this Baked Quesadilla recipe at home, load it with veggies, and skip the chicken if looking for a vegetarian dish. https://www.acouplecooks.com/baked-quesadilla-in-oven/

Visiting Author Darren Sardelli
Darren Sardelli, an award winning poet and children's book author, is visiting East Hill classrooms on March 20th!
About Darren Sardelli's Books: In Galaxy Pizza and Meteor Pie, you'll find his popular poems such as "My Doggy Ate My Essay" and "Recess! Oh Recess." This collection of children's poems is a great way to get students excited about poetry. What If is a picture book where rhymes about basketballs being square and pictures painting people fill up children's imaginations as they think about "What a crazy, wacky, mixed up place, this world would surely be!"
