Principal's Message
I hope this newsletter finds you all healthy and safe. As we roll into Week 8, I wanted to provide the following information for your student(s):
When Will We Open?: We are working closely with our district office to fine tune our plans to bring our students back to Jepson. It is our hope that Solano County continues to stabilize in the next tier of our state's reopening plan. Our goals at Jepson are to provide our students with high levels of learning and instruction, explore options for those that may not feel comfortable with in-person instruction, as well as provide a safe environment for both students and staff .
School Pictures: Below you will find additional information regarding our school pictures this year. Please sign up for a time slot to ensure the safety of everyone. School Pictures will be held on 10/13 and 10/14.
End of the Quasimester: We have two weeks left in this Quasimester before final grades are given. If your student is struggling or needs support, please reach out to their teachers via school loop or email. There are supports in place such as Office Hours, Homework Help, Saturday School Seminars, etc. to assist our learners.
Afternoon Plan of Support: On Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Fridays - teachers that have a prep in their day are live on their zoom links ready to answer questions and offer support to our learners. This is an opportune time for students to check-in about assignments, get help, and ask questions. More information about our Afternoon Plan of Support can be found in our newsletter below.
Saturday School Seminars: Our next Saturday School Seminar is scheduled for October 17th. We will have a variety of seminars available such as Disney Trivia, Math Homework Help, Science Labs, Drill Team, etc. We will send out the information via school loop, text, and our social media pages.
Clubs: Please check out our Afternoon Plan of Support schedule to see what clubs we currently have running and when! Currently:
- Book Club meets every other Monday (next meeting is on October 12)
- Creative Writing Club meets every Thursday
- Art Club meets every Thursday
- College and Career Club meets every Friday
- Drill Team meets every Friday
Zoom Video On: Please encourage your student to turn their video on during class. Not only does this allow for the teacher to gauge whether or not a student understands a concept but it also creates an effective and engaging experience for everyone. Building a sense of community at Jepson is paramount. The simple act of having ones video on can assist in this crucial teenage developmental stage. We encourage our students that do not feel comfortable leaving their video on to reach out to their teachers and do check-ins with them in an effort to not only build relationships, but also to get any clarification they may need.
Middle school can be a difficult transitional time for our kids. It is important for you to know that we are still here to support your student, should they be experiencing any social-emotional or mental health concerns. Please reach out to your counselor so that we may be able to embrace them with resources and supports.
Best,
Ana Farina

Attendance During Virtual Learning
If your student is absent from synchronous instruction, you will receive an automated call. Please contact Gail Fay, our attendance secretary at gailf@vacavilleusd.org or call 707-453-6284 to verify absences. Please also try to schedule appointments outside of your student's synchronous instruction. If your child has to miss school due to an appointment, please ask the provider for a note and send us the note so we can excuse the absence. We also require a doctors note for absences more than 3 days. We know that at times we will encounter technical difficulties beyond our control. If your student is unable to log into Zoom, please contact our office and we will assist you.
