From the Principal
Dear Copeland Parents,
We had a great start to the new school year! Our renovation is not yet complete, but our building is beautiful. Our Colts are all so awesome, and they learned their way around our new building in no time. We are so excited to have so many back at school with us, and we are hoping to have everyone back together soon.
Our school hours are 8:00 a.m. – 3:30 p.m. Instruction begins at 8:00 in the morning. Please make every effort to have your child here at school on time.
Students, staff and visitors must screen daily (prior to entering a school bus or school) for symptoms of COVID-19. If symptoms are experienced, individuals must not report to school or work until evaluated by a licensed healthcare provider. For added safety, our water fountains are used for filling water bottles only. Please send your child with a water bottle labeled with his/her name daily.
We are so excited to have devices for all students. Students should charge their devices nightly and send them to school each day.
Mark your calendars for our Open Houses so you can see our new school building.
ECSE, Pre-K, Kindergarten, and 2nd grade families are invited to attend on Tuesday, September 14, 2021 from 5:00 - 6:00 p.m. (come and go)

Car Riders
If your student is coming to school by car, please enter our car rider line and keep your child in your car until a staff member indicates it is okay for your child to exit your car. Students should not be dropped off in the street to walk up to the front door. This is not a safe practice. We have a lot of activity in our parking lot in the morning with special education buses, daycare vans, and cars/trucks bringing students to school. We want to make sure all of our students arrive safely. Thank you for following our policies and procedures.
In order to keep the car rider traffic flowing, please turn left out of the parking lot, instead of waiting for the traffic light. Thank you for helping us out.
Clinic - Nurse Kane - Medication Policy
- Hand sanitizer is allowed.
- All medications (including cough drops and medicated lip balm) can only be given to a student when a parent/guardian has brought it to the nurse’s office and signed in. It must be sealed in the original container and not expired.
- Parents may designate a responsible adult to drop-off or retrieve a student’s medication. The parent/legal guardian must provide a written letter with a copy of their identification specifying the person who has permission to transport the medication.
- Prescription medications must be properly labeled with the child’s name, name of the medication, and directions for time and dosage. Medication must be prescribed by a medical professional licensed to practice in the state of Texas.
- When the period for administering the medication has expired, the parent or other adult must retrieve the medication from school as students may not transport medicine to or from school.
Registrar's Office - Attendance
Dear Copeland Parents,
If your child is absent from school, please send a signed note or a doctor’s note (if available) at the time the student returns to school.
Excuse notes must be provided to the school within three (3) days from the date of the absence, or consecutive absences.
A phone call and/or email will not excuse the student’s absence.
Students arriving after 8:05 a.m. will be marked tardy.
Students with excessive absences and/or tardiness will be referred to the district’s truancy officer.
Every day counts!
