What a fantastic first week of school we had and so much to celebrate! We kicked off our first day with the Class of 2022 connecting with Lion Crew peer mentors, participating in team-building and collaborative activities, a short welcome assembly and a quick run-through of their classes. This first day for freshmen allows students to get to know the building with lots of support to ensure a smooth transition.

Our second day started with a short welcome assembly by our administrative staff for all students, some reminders of school expectations to get the year started right and then right to classes. You could feel the excitement with students building relationships with students and staff and learning about their new classes.

We capped off the week with a whole school Welcome Assembly, where we learned routines to drum cadences led by our marching band, school spirit chants, staff vs. student games, and class competitions. We reviewed our expectations for behavior at sports events and reinforced the importance of positive leadership in our community. I was so impressed by their level of engagement and positivity. This will be a FANTASTIC year!

  • Safway Scaffolding will be setting up scaffolding to do the Renovation and Remodeling (R & R) house roof to increase the safety of our students on-site.

  • Malarkey Roofing just offered to donate all of the roofing for the R & R house!

  • SHHS Volleyball was nominated by recent officials for the OSAA Outstanding Sportsmanship Award. The Lady Lions exhibited the great qualities that OSAA looks for in teams, programs, and communities across the state.

October 10 is just around the corner! All 10th grade students (and Juniors who sign up by September 19 with Mrs. Chism in the College and Career Center (room A-15)) will take the PSAT at SHHS. The scores can help in a lot of ways - it can meet Essential Skills graduation requirements, it can provide suggestions for enrolling in certain AP courses in high school, it can give you an idea of what colleges to look into, and can give you access to scholarships.
