Instructional Block
In monitoring and observing, I realized that some created small groups in your classrooms rooms for instructional discourse. This is a great whole group strategy for students. Nonetheless, the SGI is designed for you the teacher to have the opportunity to meet with learners with like needs to address specific skills that need enhancing OR to reduce the number of distractions for learners and give face to face opportunity for deeper understanding in a less threatening setting.
What have you done in your small group instruction? Did you address the proficiency of a power(priority) standard? Did you review or teach a specific and targeted strategy? Did you introduce new learning? What's next?
Teachers please work with our Instructional Facilitator, Math Coach, Curriculum Facilitator or me to build your groups if you are having questions on who or when to meet and or the content to address when you are meeting.
What I've found...
The content that is worked on by students, not in your small group is a concern for many. Procedures, expectations, and goals of the independent workers have to be made with intentional instructional planning.
More to come...
