Real Kidspace September Theme: I am Wonderfully Made

Self-Esteem, Belonging and Bullies in the Bible

What better time is there to be reminded of how wonderful, honored and loved your children are than when they have headed back to school? Last week, we read "I am fearfully and wonderfully made." (Psalm 139:14) For the past two weeks, in celebration of who and how God has created them, our children have been creating self-portraits. (Stay-tuned for a gallery of their finished reflections.)

Today the children read Isaiah 49:16, where God says that they are written on the palms of God's hands. Then, the children signed their name on a large palm as a reflection of the fact that God knows their name and the names of their fellow Real Kidspace members. I hope that every time they see this image, it gives them a sense of belonging. The next time you visit Real Kidspace, please, take a moment to check out their signatures.

Today we also told the story of Moses, Pharaoh and the Ten Plagues. Pharaoh is a prime example of a bully. This is a harsh story but who hasn't wished that their bullies would be snuffed out in the same way as Pharaoh?

Thank You for Your Many Contributions. LEGOs were a Hit.

Thank you to all of you who have responded to our wish list requests. I have managed to thank some of you personally (in-person and via snail mail) but I also wanted to thank you publicly for the physical labor, mirrors, glass jars, and LEGOs. Real Kidspace would not be the same without your active and passionate response.

We're Crossing the Red/Reed Sea

Please, make sure you bring a child to Real Kidspace next week, as we cross the Red/Reed Sea.
