Greetings Mesa Verde Students and Families
Virtual Learning Academy
This means that students will be in a schedule like previous years, with the core subjects, an elective, and PE. Our teachers are already working on ways to make virtual classes great.
We are still working on details of what a student's virtual daily schedule will be, but it will be much more structured than the spring distance learning. More to come!

Virtual Orientation for Incoming 6th Graders
Welcome Principal Christine Donnelly
- How long have you been working in Education? I started in PUSD as a student teacher in 1994 at Meadowbrook Middle School. This will be my eighth year as a principal. Before education I was in the restaurant business for about 10 years.
- How long have you worked at PUSD? Where have you worked within PUSD? I taught summer school English at Poway High way back when, but the majority of my teaching career was at Meadowbrook Middle School. I have taught 7th and 8th grade Humanities and also Yearbook. I also ran the After School Safety and Education program at Meadowbrook for six years.
- What is your favorite part about working in Education? Working at a school site is fabulous because I am surrounded by adults who really want to support students. We come to work every day knowing it will be different and fun because we get to be with kids. The secondary reason is that I can easily find a student or staff member who loves to talk history with me! I am passionate about civic education.
- What are you most excited about with joining Mesa Verde? Before I became principal of Creekside for seven years, I was at Meadowbrook for nineteen years, so I know middle school students and how difficult these middle years can be for children. I am excited about bringing that middle school experience along with what I learned from being at Creekside Elementary to Mesa Verde – how to apply new strategies to support students in both academics and social emotionally.
- What do you like to do when you are off campus? I am an avid reader and my favorite place to read is in my hammock in the backyard or at the beach. I also travel and just before COVID shut us down in March I had traveled to India over winter break and to Italy during the February break. I also love playing board games and card games.
- Fun Fact: I attend tapings of game shows like the Price is Right and Let’s Make a Deal. In fact, my husband proposed to me back in 1990 while he was in contestants’ row on the Price is Right and I was in the audience! I was also on a trivia game show back in the 90s on the old USA network and won some money!
