Important Information:
-Edmodo: All students should be able to log in to both my class and Ms. Wellborn's class. If your child is unable to log in, please let me know ASAP.
-Grades/HAC: Grades are updated in HAC! Please let me know if you have questions/concerns.
iReady at home: Access iReady via clever.com/in/stjohns. Students log in with their Office 365 username and password. This login information is in the front page of the planner. **Some lessons are flash-based and will not work on phones, iPads, or other mobile devices.**

Social Studies:
- SS.5.A.2.1, SS.5.A.2.2, SS.5.A.2.3
- Approx. six weeks of instruction/enrichment
- Students should work on the Foldable/Words to Know (p. 37-38) and the Show As You Go activity (p. 33) throughout the unit. These two assignments will be due at the end of unit 2.
- Choice Board: Students have copies of the Unit 2 Choice Board. All activities are due September 25.
- Unit 2, Lesson 1 quiz (pages 40-49) will be on Wednesday, Sept. 6.
-States, Capitals, & Abbreviations
- SS.5.G.1.6
- Approx. one month of instruction/enrichment
- Students will memorize the location of states, capitals, and abbreviations by region
- Regions in order: Northeast, Southeast, Midwest, Southwest, West
- SW region quiz will be Tuesday, Sept. 5
- West region quiz will be Monday, Sept. 11
- Summative (All 50 states/capitals/abbreviations) will be Sept. 15
ELA/Writing:
- LAFS.5.RI.1.3, LAFS.5.RI.2.5
- Approx. 2-3 weeks of instruction/enrichment
-Novel Study:
- We are reading Hatchet by Gary Paulson together in class.
- Students have a mini book project they'll work on throughout this novel study; completion of the book will count as a summative test grade. Students have a copy of the rubric for this project, and should use it as a guide when working on their mini book.
