Advent: Journey to the Stable

The joyful season of Advent is upon us! Our Faith team shared the symbols and traditions of Advent with our school community at assembly on Monday. The season of Advent begins this Sunday and lasts four Sundays until Christmas Eve. It is the start of a new Church year and symbolizes our hopeful anticipation of the coming of Christ.

At Saint John XXIII, we will prepare for the coming of our Lord in ways that our students and staff will experience the light of Jesus daily. We will begin at assembly with our Advent wreath and Advent calendar where we will explore scripture and symbols that guide us on the path to Christ. Our grade fours are embarking on their Road to Bethlehem, a journey that brings characters to life along the journey to Bethlehem. The nativity story is alive in each classroom. This is a joyful time of our Christian faith and we are grateful to journey with you and your children this Advent season. Please join us on Monday at assembly 9 am, as we continue the beginning of Advent celebrated at mass on Sunday. May God’s abundant blessings surround you and yours this Advent season with His Hope, Faith, Joy, and Peace.

Blessings,

Mrs. Boehm

Please help us with student safety and security: Check in at the Office

Your cooperation continues to be appreciated as we ask that you check in at the office upon arrival at our school. Mrs. Wilson takes diligent care of ensuring our students are accounted for and communication is essential for knowing where our students are at all times. If you need to pick up your child or drop something off, please check in with office staff first. If you need to talk to someone in the office when you call, please press 1. Thank-you.

Traffic Safety: Pre-K Families

For our Pre-K families picking up and dropping off students on the far entrance of our school: Please do not park or drop off in the bus area in front of the school and especially, do not cross the street in between the buses. This is very dangerous for our students. If you park across the street, please help your child follow and learn to use the crosswalk. Thank-you for your commitment and cooperation to safety.

Mark your calendars for our Advent Concert: Journey to the Stable

We are very excited to share that plans are underway by Mrs. Schaub, Mrs. Doderai and our staff to celebrate our Advent season with an "In-formance" (showcasing music outcomes that students are working on during music classes). This year, our Kindergarten to Grade 4 concert with be on Thursday, December 20th with an afternoon and evening concert. Our concert, Journey to the Stable, will align liturgically with our season of Advent and celebrate the preparing for and waiting for Jesus-Christmas. We will have a special fundraiser for VIP tickets and parking for our evening performance with proceeds going to our two foster children and Valeda House. More information will follow soon.

Connecting with Authors! Laura Numeroff Tweets Back!

Ms. Bourassa and her 2B students diligently worked on creating circular stories inspired by author, Laura Numeroff. A tweet was sent out celebrating this and she tweeted the students back! The students were delighted!

Thank-you PSC and Mrs. Lukie for putting up our student stars at our Parish. Each star represents a student at one of our 4 Catholic Schools in Fort Saskatchewan!
