Let's Go All In!

Thanks so much to those of you who contributed on Giving Tuesday to our Annual Fund! Please check your inboxes for our ALL-IN email. Open House & Choir Performance-Sat., Dec. 7, 10:00 am - 12:00 pm

We look forward to hosting our upcoming Open House for prospective families tomorrow morning. We also can't wait for our CE2-CM2 choir to kick off the event with song. We need a good turnout for the choir, so thank you in advance for bringing your singers in tomorrow! Parents are encouraged to stay and join us for the event, but you may also drop your student off and return at 11:45 for pickup.


Trail of Lights 5K-Sat., Dec. 7

Tomorrow evening a big group of AIS families will be participating in the Trail of Lights 5K at Zilker Park. We look forward to running, hopping, and jogging along with you for this festive community event.


Spring Afterschool Activity Registration Opens-Mon., Dec. 9

Check out the schedule for next semester's afterschool activities with awesome classes like Little Vet School's "All About Cats!", Preschool Cooking Club, Soccer, Building with

Circuits/Physics in Motion, Yoga, Chess, Theatre, Cooking & Coding, Engineering, Physics, and Roller Coaster Design, an Italian Experience, and much more. Classes are for a variety of ages and are offered in French, Spanish, and English. Registration will open this Monday at 6:00 pm and will be open until January 9th. The last day for cancellations or class changes will be Friday, January 10th. Some classes book quickly so be on the lookout for the email on Monday from Jhino and reach out to him with any questions.


Upcoming Field Trips

  • On Wednesday, December 11, CP and CE1 classes will be visiting the “Beyond Planet Earth” space exhibition, and watching an IMAX film about the Apollo 11 moon landing at the Bullock State History Museum. They will leave school around 8:30 AM (please don't be late to school) and will return around 12:30 pm. They will have a picnic lunch outside the museum (weather permitted). Students need to pack a cold lunch for the occasion.
  • On Thursday, December 12, CE2 and CM2 classes will go to the Colonial Gardens Memory Care Assisted Living of Texas during the last block of the day. They will sing for the residents and will return to school afterward.
  • On Thursday, December 19th, CM2-4è students will be taking the metro to go to Google's Downtown office on Thursday, December 19th. There, they will explore coding, computer science, and engineering in a professional environment! Students should be dropped off by 7:45 am and picked up between 3:10-3:25 pm at Howard Lane Metro Station. Parents may either drive their children to the station themselves or arrange for carpooling with other parents. Lunch will be provided by Google, but students should bring a small backpack with two snacks and a water bottle. They should wear good tennis shoes, a raincoat, a hat, and an AIS T-shirt if possible. We are really looking forward to this visit!


Alumni Jingle & Mingle-Thur., Dec. 12

We will welcome back old friends at our Winter Alumni event next Thursday. Parents and student alumni can join us for a jingle and mingle gathering with light hors d'oeuvres and refreshments.


CM2 France Trip Documentation Due-Fri., Dec. 13

Please remember that the deadline to return documentation for the trip to France is Friday, December 13. Documents must be notarized. For your convenience, we encourage you to reach out to Mr. Jacques Weber who is a notary and could do so at no cost to you.


PTO General Meeting & AIS Board Meeting-Tue. Dec. 17

All teachers and guardians are invited to the December PTO meeting on Tuesday, December 17th at 5:30 pm in the Science Lab. Limited childcare is available for the PTO meeting and you may sign up here.

The AIS governing Board of Directors will meet at 6:30 in the Media Center, and you are welcome to join the open session from 6:30 - 8:00 pm.


December Spirit Night-Thur., Dec. 19, 4:00 - 9:00 pm

All families, we hope you can visit Newk's Eatery in the Arboretum on Thursday, December 19th for an AIS Spirit Night. This is a great way to have a break from cooking, eat-out, and mingle with our community. For this spirited night, we booked the event through an online portal, so thank you for RSVPing here, as we need to reach the minimum to continue the event and provide an estimate to the restaurant. So, if there is a chance you can come - we need you to sign up! These are always fun opportunities to chat with each other in an informal setting while giving back. Newk's will generously donate 15% of our sales back to AIS.


Winter Choir Performance & Class Parties-Fri., Dec. 20

Ms. Noémie is inviting all families to join us for a Winter Choir performance on Friday, December 20th from 2:15 - 2:45 pm. The Winter parties will immediately follow the performance. Be on the lookout for more information and sign-ups soon from your room parents for the class parties. Dismissal for the Winter Break will be promptly at 3:25 pm.
