A Message From Dr. Flowers- Principal
Dear Families,
Welcome back! We hope you all had a wonderful winter break. It's been a fantastic week as students transitioned back into their routines. As a friendly reminder, next Thursday marks the end of the second nine weeks. You are encouraged to login to ProgressBook to review your child's grades before the end of the grading period.
We're excited to announce that our second nine weeks awards assembly is scheduled for January 26th. The assembly for grades K-2 will be at 1:45, and for grades 3-5, it will be at 2:30. If your child is receiving an award, their teacher will notify you beforehand.
Please note that there will be no school on Monday, January 15th, in observance of Martin Luther King Jr. Day. Wishing you all a fantastic weekend!
Best regards,
Barb Flowers

COUNSELOR'S CORNER!
Hello Brimfield Families!
We hope this newsletter finds you and your children in good health and high spirits. As we embark on returning for the new year we would like to emphasize the importance of establishing and maintaining healthy routines for both parents and students. Routines are essential for fostering a positive learning environment and ensuring your child's success in school and beyond. In this article, we will share some tips and suggestions to help you build effective routines at home.
Consistent Bedtime: A good night's sleep is crucial for your child's physical and mental well-being. Establishing a consistent bedtime routine helps them wind down and ensures they get enough rest for optimal performance in school. Set a regular bedtime and encourage your child to follow a relaxing routine before bed, such as reading a book or taking a warm bath.
Morning Rituals: Starting the day on the right foot sets a positive tone for the entire day. Encourage your child to establish a morning routine that includes tasks like making their bed, brushing their teeth, and having a healthy breakfast. Allocating enough time for these activities will help your child feel prepared and focused as they head to school.
Homework Time: Designate a specific time and place for your child to complete their homework. Create a quiet and well-lit workspace that is free from distractions. Encourage them to break their homework into manageable tasks and take short breaks in between to maintain focus and avoid burnout. Be available to assist and offer guidance when needed, but encourage your child to take responsibility for their own work.
Healthy Eating Habits: Proper nutrition plays a significant role in your child's overall development and academic performance. Plan and prepare balanced meals that include a variety of fruits, vegetables, whole grains, and lean proteins. Encourage your child to eat breakfast, pack healthy snacks for school, and drink plenty of water throughout the day. Modeling healthy eating habits yourself can positively influence your child's choices.
Physical Activity: Regular exercise is vital for your child's physical and mental well-being. Encourage your child to engage in at least 60 minutes of physical activity every day. This can include activities such as biking, swimming, playing sports, or simply going for a walk together. Make physical activity a family affair and find ways to incorporate movement into your daily routines.
Limit Screen Time: Excessive screen time can negatively impact your child's academic performance and overall health. Establish guidelines for screen time and encourage alternative activities such as reading, arts and crafts, or playing board games. Be mindful of the content your child consumes and ensure they have a healthy balance between screen time and other enriching activities.
Remember, building routines takes time and consistency. Start by introducing one routine at a time and gradually add more as your child becomes comfortable. By establishing healthy routines, you are providing a stable and nurturing environment that supports your child's growth and success.
If you have any questions or need further guidance, please don't hesitate to reach out to your child's teacher or the school administration. Together, we can help your child thrive academically and personally.

PBIS CORNER
What is PBIS?
Positive Behavior Interventions and Supports is an important part of the school environment to encourage positive behavior. There are clear expectations throughout the school that are taught consistently throughout the year. The four expectations promoted at Field Local Schools are:
Safe
Outstanding
Accountable
Respectful
When students do not respond to teaching of the building or classroom expectations, we will view it as an opportunity for re-teaching, not just negative consequences. Students still receive consequences for negative behavior. The goal of the consequence is to teach students so they will not repeat the negative behavior.
