A Message From Dr. Null

Parents/Guardians,

This has been a great week welcoming more students back into the buildings. We look forward to the official start of In-Person Instruction on Tuesday, September 8!

We have added some new documents to our Roadmap to Reopening website on the In-Person Instruction page that might be helpful resources to you, an Educational Rights & Responsibilities During COVID-19 document from the Texas Education Agency and a Face Coverings chart. We are also finalizing a video about Remote/Online Instruction that will be sent next week to families who made that instructional selection.

On Monday, August 24, I gave a live update on the Conroe ISD YouTube Channel. A recording of the video is available at this link. To find answers to specific questions, please see the approximate video times below.

  • 19:25 – Mental Health & Safety Resources
  • 41:20 – What is a social contract?
  • 45:00 – What do I need to know about masks?
  • 50:30 – How will quarantine work?
  • 1:04:55 – Can my student bring a water bottle? How will my student get water at school?
  • 1:05:55 – What is the status of the District’s PPE supply? What about cleaning protocols?

I hope you and your family have a safe and enjoyable weekend!

Dr. Curtis Null
Superintendent

First Day of School is Tuesday, September 8th!

Welcome to another wonderful school year! It was great seeing our students back at school this week! We look forward to a great first day of school on September 8th.

It’s important that we communicate effectively with all our Panther families so you know what’s happening in your child’s school and can be prepared for upcoming events. We produce a school newsletter once a month with occasional updates. The newsletters will be sent to you electronically. Please take time to read the newsletter when it is sent out. This is how we communicate important information about upcoming events and let you know what your children are learning and experiencing at school. Please make sure we have a current email address for your family! You may contact Mrs. Jeane in the front office to update your information. We also send important messages through text message.

For those online learners rest assured that we will continue to provide quality online instruction. We continue to refine and improve our online instruction daily and will continue to livestream lessons to our students who are at home.

Does your child need help with homework or getting caught up?

The Student Success Center (SSC) opens Wednesday, September 9th. The SSC is open Tuesday through Thursday from 4:05 – 5:10. Students staying after school for tutorials can be picked up by the bus ramp or can ride the late bus home. Late buses depart Moorhead at 5:15pm.

Student Success Center Expectations

· Long before 4:00pm students should know how they are getting home (car or late bus); in other words, they do not decide at 4:00 that they need to stay for SSC.

· 4:05 – Students line up at the 7th grade library door, extending towards the cafeteria; whether they hear a dismissal announcement or not, they are released from class at 4:05 (no earlier) for SSC. They should not arrive later than 4:15.

· Students hand SSC facilitator on duty their official, teacher signed SSC pass.

· Students sign in on one of the iPads.

· Students begin working quietly at the appropriate subject area table until tutors arrive.

· Electronic devices are not allowed unless a tutor or SSC facilitator has given permission to use them.

· Students must ask the SSC facilitator for permission to use the restroom.

· Car riders are dismissed at 5:05pm and late bus riders are dismissed at 5:10pm.

Live Online Lessons

Live Online Lessons will be held every Monday - Thursday via ZOOM. Please check your teacher's Canvas page for Zoom links. Students should have camera on and show their first and last name on screen.

Pre-screening at Home:

To ensure the health and safety of all students and staff and in accordance with recommendations and guidelines from the Texas Education Agency, all students should be screened for COVID-19 symptoms before coming to school. If your student(s) has a temperature at or above 100 degrees or any of the following symptoms that are not normal for them, please keep your student(s) at home and notify the campus nurse at (936-709-2400)—loss of taste/smell, sore throat, fatigue, chills or shaking with chills, new uncontrollable cough causing difficulty breathing, congestion or runny nose, significant muscle pain or body aches, diarrhea, vomiting or abdominal pain, new onset of severe headache, and/or known close contact with a person who is lab confirmed to have COVID-19.

COVID-19 Student Screener Check

Our parents are valued partners in our Roadmap to Reopening Plan. In addition to wearing cloth face coverings, social distancing, washing hands, and regular cleaning and disinfecting of frequently touched surfaces, an essential element in helping slow the spread of COVID-19 at school is each parent’s commitment to screening their child daily for symptoms. Parents are also asked to keep any student exhibiting symptoms of COVID-19 at home and to notify the campus.

https://www.cdc.gov/coronavirus/2019-ncov/symptoms-testing/symptoms.html

Please be sure to keep your child at home if he/she is exhibiting any of the symptoms described.

Please note that all campuses are closed to visitors at this time to help stop the spread of COVID-19. Parent/teacher conferences, ARDS, 504 meetings etc. Will be held virtually or by telephone when possible. Thank you for helping to keep our school community safe.
