Greetings Peak Family!
What a week! We lost two great influential and inspirational monarchs this past week. They were true examples of people who lived what they preached. We should only hope to live a life that speaks for us, in this way, after we are gone. There is much we can learn from them. Specifically their will to fight for equality, to speak up for what is right, even if its not favorable.
By now I am sure you have read Yasmin’s email and seen on the news that we will begin the school year with 100% remote instruction until September 8th. Personally, I am pleased that TEA decided to allow county health officials to make allowances for starting the year with online instruction as I do believe that it is the safest option for us at this point in time. That being said, I also want to acknowledge that the situation is still far from ideal. Some of our parents (and some of you) who were prepared to send their scholars to school will now have to revisit their family’s plans, an undoubtedly stressful situation. In addition, we are faced with the challenge of providing the best online instruction that we possibly can. The good news is we can give much more attention to improving our online instructional practices instead of dividing our attention between that and learning entirely new safety protocols for teaching and learning on campus in these next couple of weeks. Lastly, I want to stamp that no matter what, we will be coexisting with this pandemic for the duration of the school year. It will be our task to serve our scholars with the same courage, truth, service, and resilience that we always have, despite truly unusual and frightening circumstances. Luckily, we have the best possible teammates to not only get the job done but to do it with high level of expectations for ourselves and our scholars.
