PTAC Meeting - Monday, December 3

Please join Mrs. Scallon in the library for a discussion on personalized learning and the entrepreneurial cycle from 5:30 - 6:30 PM.

Global Leaders

This opportunity is open to any WHS student! Global Leaders is non-profit out of Fort Collins that empowers students to become leaders locally and abroad through service work. In this program, students attend local seminars on leadership and service, perform local service (such as food banks, student mentoring, etc...), and have the awesome option to go to Guatemala to work on projects like reforestation, school building, hospital care and more! They also get one on one Spanish lessons during their stay in Guatemala.

We will have an informational meeting for students on November 29th at 11:15 in the small gym, and a parent meeting on December 4th.

We look forward to meeting you all!

Fall Play at WHS - November 29 - December 1

Fifteen-year-old math whiz Christopher Boone lives with his divorced dad in Swinton, a working-class town west of London. After being falsely accused of killing a neighbor’s dog, Christopher—who is brilliant but has difficulty dealing with the sounds and stresses of everyday life—decides to investigate the crime. The secrets he unearths prompt him to leave his trusted teacher and the familiar streets of his hometown for a life-changing train trip to London. Based on Mark Haddon’s best-selling 2003 novel, The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-Time is a thrilling and heartwarming adventure story featuring an unforgettable young hero and the people that lead him to discover the family secrets.

Unified Basketball Team

We are excited to announce that WHS is launching a Co-Ed, Unified Basketball Team this winter! Unified Sports is an inclusive sports program that unites Special Olympic athletes (individuals with intellectual disabilities) and partners (individuals without intellectual disabilities) as teammates for training and competition. The season will run January through March. We will typically have practice or a game 2 afternoons a week, right after school. We will play unified teams from all over Northern Colorado, with three home games here at WHS! If you know a student with autism, down syndrome, cerebral palsy, or any other intellectual or physical disability, we want to recruit them as an athlete!! We also need WHS students to join the team as partners. Our goal is to promoting social inclusion through shared sports training and competition experiences. NO basketball experience required!! If your student is interested in joining our team as an athlete or a partner, please email the coach, Nicole Maas (school nurse), at nicole.maas@weldre4.org, or call 970-381-1389. Your student can also sign up in person in the counseling office!!

District Boundaries

During district boundary meetings last month, community members engaged in thoughtful discussion and provided helpful input. Boundary Q and As on the district's website have been updated to reflect questions that were asked at the meetings. The Boundary Committee will continue to meet this month and review all feedback before presenting its recommendations to the Board of Education on December 10. Please visit the boundary website for details. Thank you.
