October 4, 2019

Dear Teachers and Staff,

Looking forward to Grandparents' Day on Monday! Please stop by or send me an email if you have any questions about logistics for the day. We have over 180 RSVPs - so it will certainly be a big crowd!

Thank you for your time on Wednesday afternoon! It was great to be able to spend time with all of you working towards the continued improvement of our academic programs. I appreciate your candid feedback and willingness to try new concepts and ideas. I hope you found the afternoon to be fruitful. With this in mind, I'd ask that you take a moment to complete a brief feedback survey here.

A reminder that the formal observation window has officially opened (September 23rd-November 7th). You can schedule your formal observation by email. The lesson plan template for formal observations is attached below.

Also, Progress Reports will be sent home Friday, October 11th. Please have your grades updated on Gradelink (or completed on your Progress Report Template for younger grades) no later than Wednesday afternoon, October 9th.

Lastly, I know the month of October is a particularly busy one with numerous schedule interruptions, a wide-range of events, and plenty of long hours. As we begin this month together, please know that I deeply appreciate your flexibility, patience, and dedication. This month is certainly a testament to the vibrancy of our school community!

Have a wonderful and restful weekend!

STAR Skills & Resources Tutorial

I've recorded a video for you that details how to access resources for specific skills using STAR data. You can access a Google Drive Link of the video here.

The video is a bit lengthy (about 16 minutes), but it covers two methods. First, I discuss the more direct/simple method which is searching a skill from the instructional planning report in the View Skills and Resources platform. The second, more complex method is to create class groups through the Manage Groups function, and then pull skills for these specific groups. Either option works, but I thought it may be helpful to see both. The nice thing about the video is that you can pause the video and click around on your own screen, then continue watching when you're ready.

Remember, you won't break the STAR platform, I promise! So feel free to click around and try new things. If you have any questions, or would like to sit down in person to review ways to utilize STAR data, please feel free to stop by or send me an email.
