What is Global Citizenship?

Global Citizenship is the concept of being a part of the global community. To be a global citizen, one must be aware of the current issues of the world. Being a global citizen means paying attention to the state of the world and being active in making our Earth a better place for everyone. Global citizens should be self aware and have concern for the well being of our planet.
As Global Citizens, we stand against the greatest injustice of our time: extreme poverty. We know that a world that deprives 1.2 billion of their basic rights in unjust and we must be the ones to do something about it.

He and his co-founders aim to develop a solar-powered solution that will provide African villages with access to a clean and affordable source of electricity. In less than 1 year, a wide range of quality solar solutions have been installed in 14 African countries. Lidia, 13 year old Kenyan girl

She and her classmates often don't get enough to eat and therefore, it's difficult for them to concentrate in class. Farm Africa believes in providing children with a healthy diet with proper nutrition. They aim to help establish vegetable plots to provide nutritious produce available for the children to eat. #GivingTuesday, on December 1, focuses on schools in Nairobi to help unused school land be transformed into plentiful vegetable gardens to grow fresh vegetables to eat at lunch.

Young enterpreneurs in Indian slums

There are 400 million people with no access to electricity in India. Pollinate Energy is a company based in Bangalore that aims to distribute sustainable technology on payment plans to India's urban poor. In the last 18 months, Pollinate Energy has sold over 6,000 solar lights across more than 500 urban slums. This means kerosene, an unsafe and expensive fuel, has been removed from the homes of more than 31,000 people, over 15,000 children can study at night, 6,000 families now enjoy 6 more hours of light daily to study, work and socialize.

Empowering women could end world hunger

In over 30 countries, women constitute the majority of agricultural laborers. These female farmers, however, are not treated the same as their male counterparts. In many developing countries, women are expected to do household chores such as cook, carry water, fetch firewood, and take care of the family. Taking this into account, their work hours are much longer than men's. Differences in crop fields between men and women exist because women have less access to resources. Despite how many female farmers there are, they tend to receive far less support from national and international development organizations than men do. Gender equality in agriculture is absolutely essential for sustainable development. The Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) estimates that if women had the same access to productive resources as men, the total agricultural output in developing countries would increase by up to 4% and reduce the number of hungry people in the world by 12–17%. If that happened, it would affect up to 150 million people.
