* Change in OMS Breakfast Time *
OMS families, the cafeteria kitchen will be closing for breakfast at 7:35am when the first bell rings. Students who are wishing to eat breakfast at school must purchase their food between 7:15am - 7:35am. The kitchen staff will allow students on late arriving buses to purchase grab and go food.
All library books due Friday May 6th!
The Oxford library will have major renovations done this summer! We are very excited for the library to be updated and upgraded. Note that ALL student library books must be returned before or on Friday May 6th! Any student library book that is returned after May 6 will be overdue, may incur fines, and will prevent the student from picking up their yearbook.
Counseling Corner
Summer Opportunity
Camp Kesem is a free, overnight week-long summer camp organized by Kesem and operates in 44 states. It is run by passionate college student leaders and supports children, ages 6-18, through and beyond their parents' cancer. Camp Kesem offers a lasting impact on children by providing them a peer-support network that shares the same experience of coping with a parent’s cancer.
This year, Camp Kesem, at the University of Kansas, will be held from May 29-June 4 at Camp Wood in Elmdale, KS. During the week, kids are placed in units with other kids of their age, with whom they bond with through a myriad of camp songs, activities, games, meals, and discussions. It is our top priority at Kesem to provide a safe, fun, and empowering experience for your child. We also bring on nurses, mental health professionals, and other experienced staff to support our counselors and campers at camp.
Please see the attached flier for more information, or visit the website at: kesem.force.com or reach out to us at kesem.outreach@kesem.org

Registration for 22-23 school year is open
Middle school registration for the 2022-23 school year is open and online now for current students and families. Registration is required annually and is the time to update your child’s information (phone, email, emergency contacts, health information, etc.) and pay fees. At this time, you have access to pay all required fees with the exception of course fees. Course fees will be assigned in August.
Completing registration now confirms that your child will attend school in August and helps the district predict how many students will be participating in each grade level/course in the fall as we work to be financially responsible and stay within guidelines for teacher/student ratios. As we prepare for the new school year, we look at paid registration as a commitment from a family regarding their attendance for the upcoming year. Thank you for providing important information and parent permissions as part of the registration process. For more information about registration, visit www.bluevalleyk12.org/registration.

Allergies or Covid: A Request from the Nurse
With allergy season upon us, Nurse Piper is requesting that students receive allergy medication at home if it is needed. The school health room does not stock allergy medicine. With the symptoms of allergies and Covid being so similar, we do not want students to be sent home for covid testing if they are experiencing seasonal allergies.
Parents, please do not send your child to school if they are sick. We are seeing a number of students coming to school ill, being around friends and staff, and going home during the school day. We want to stop the spread of illnesses and need your help.
Thank you.

OMS Office Hours and Outside Wait Times
This is a reminder the OMS office does not open until 7:00am. Students will be waiting outside until the front doors are unlocked. Student will wait in the front entry foyer until they enter the building at 7:15. Families, please do not drop off students before 7:00am.
In the afternoon, the office closes at 3:30pm. Please make sure that you and your student have made after school pick up plans before they leave for school in the morning.
Library Has Limited Number of Chromebooks
Every student needs to bring their chromebook to school fully charged every day.
The library has a very limited number of chromebooks to loan to students whose chromebooks are malfunctioning. If your student does not have their own chromebook, there is a possibility that there may not be one available for them to use during the day. Any chromebook that is borrowed must be returned at the end of the school day.
Attendance Reporting and Notifications
Families can expect automated attendance messages by email, phone, and text if a child is absent and their absence has not already been reported by a parent/guardian. It is the responsibility of the parent/guardian to report an absence or reply to the automated email or phone message.
What is the purpose of attendance notifications?
We realize that students may occasionally need to miss school for planned absences, illnesses, and appointments. However, when a student does not arrive at school or unexpectedly misses a portion of the school day, we are concerned and want to make sure you are aware that your child is absent.
How can I get push notifications?
Families who would also like a push notification can download the ParentVUE app and manage their notifications. If a child has an unreported absence when a teacher submits attendance, then a push notification will immediately be sent to the parent/guardian's mobile device.
Interested in push notifications? Simply download the ParentVUE app (iTunes app store or Google Play), enable push notifications in device settings and select attendance notifications through in-app settings. Once the app is downloaded, these instructions will help you complete the set-up.
