Spotlight on Learning
Kids laughing and cheering each other on. . . what class is this... P.E. Coach Schafer and Coach Luna this week capitalized on the holiday time and had students running to search for hidden objects! The the teams finding the mummies, eyeballs, and other objects won! You may have seen a few new smiles from your children when they surprised you with vampire teeth! Students love the learning!
Another special learning moment occurred when in Mrs. Harrell's 2nd grade writing class. Students were learning to write like a scientist in the lab! As the students saw the modeling and special descriptions, one student stood up and said, "We are doing science in writing class!" Having students actually see and do cross-content work is a win for everyone! The students did go on to do the science experiment with Mrs. Harrell, safety googles and all!
Staff Spotlight- Mrs. Faizha Bashir
Greetings Lobos! This week's staff spotlight is 7th ELAR teacher, Mrs. Faizha Bashir. Mrs. Bashir comes to us from California where she was born in San Francisco and raised in Orange County. She graduated from Cal State Fullerton (CSUF) with a Bachelor's in English and is currently working on her Master’s in Educational Leadership. Mrs. Bashir exudes a passion for ELAR and loves everything about it from grammar, to reading, to writing, to poetry. “The best part about teaching ELAR is seeing the personal connection students make to their own lives, society, and the world around them.”
Mrs. Bashir is also apart of various campus leadership teams to include: PSA PLC Team, Lobo Care, NJHS, and the district’s leadership development program, Aspiring Leadership Institute. This is Ms. Bashir’s fifth year teaching and her professional goal is to one day move into school administration.
When Mrs. Bashir is not busy: teaching, preparing engaging lessons, working on her Masters, grading student work or volunteering on her various campus leadership team… (LOL) her hobbies and love is to travel, exploring the world and learning about new cultures. Some of the places she has traveled to include: Germany, Greece, Turkey, Pakistan, Mexico and Thailand. We are proud to have Mrs. Bashir apart of our PSA family!
