Hunt Club COVID-19 Update
May 6, 2022
Hello Hunt Club Parents,
The cases of COVID-19 in students and staff of our school are elevated as compared to other schools across the district. In an effort to identify persons infected with COVID-19, who either have no symptoms, or have not yet developed symptoms, the district will be offering two voluntary testing days next week at the school.
When this mitigation measure was used earlier this year at a different school, it was beneficial to help reduce transmission of the virus. The testing is free, rapid antigen testing, which students will self-administer under the supervision and direction of a trained member of our health services team. The test consists of a sterile cotton swab that the student spins gently inside the base of their nose for 15 seconds on each side. Results are known within 15 minutes. The district health services staff will contact a parent or guardian immediately if a positive is identified, all other negative results will be emailed the same day.
For all students who opt-in, testing will be conducted at school on Monday and Thursday. Students are pulled in small groups for testing, returning to class within 15 minutes.
While it is not required for your child to participate, we appreciate the opportunity to identify any additional cases to slow the transmission of COVID-19 in our school.
Permission to test is electronic and can easily be completed using a computer, tablet or smartphone. If you need a paper permission form, please request it from the school office. Those who have tested positive in the past 30 days should not participate in testing at this time, as they could still test positive from the previous infection.
It is very important that all students and staff who are feeling ill stay home. Testing is highly recommended for anyone who is experiencing symptoms of COVID-19 and those who have been in close contact with someone who tested positive. Known symptoms include: fever, cough, loss of taste/smell, sore throat, body aches, vomiting, diarrhea, headache. Testing is also available at the Old Traughber Building (info here), and also free to each home by request from the federal government (info here).
Our health services staff continue to closely monitor the cases present in the school. Remember that contact tracing is done to the greatest extent possible, however it isn’t possible to know each person that a student comes in contact with throughout the duration of the day. Participation in events before/after school are voluntary and not tracked/traced for exposure; risk should be calculated before choosing to participate.
Our building will undergo a deep cleaning this weekend, and additional reminders are being sent out to families about how to reduce potential transmission of illness. Thank you for your support as we work hard together to keep our school a safe and healthy place!

Snow/Emergency Day Packets
Teachers will be live in their Google meets from: 9-9:30, 11:30-12 and 1:30-2 to support and answer any questions a child might have. Student attendance is required for a snow/emergency day. The second page of each packet will be collected by the classroom teacher when school reopens. The students only need to bring the page back filled out by the parent. They do not need to bring the whole packet back to school .
Please keep it in a safe place at home. We will be using this as our instructional tool for our snow/emergency days. Please know that all elementary schools are following this same procedure.
