Clay, Watercolor, VASE, Dry Cleaning?
Oh Em Gee! We are almost there for art fees!
Hello everyone! Once again lets start this newsletter with art fees! Check with your student to make sure they're off my list! I only have 20 students left on the list! (Thank goodness!!) That's $700.00! That could buy some amazing supplies for your students to use! We are using clay right now in Art I and I'd like to do a bigger project, but as of now we don't have the budget for it without outstanding fees!
Abstract Water Color Paintings!
Art 1 Just finished painting their abstract watercolor paintings. They took a landscape oil pastel from last semester and broke it down into big shapes to make their paintings. We also practiced using an analogous color scheme! These turned out so great!
Art 1 is Moving on to Clay...as I'm sure you've heard
Art 1 started clay this week! I begin clay with a lot of clay notes, quizzes, and a clay vocabulary test! Since clay is such a large portion of your student's art fees I want to be sure that they get the most out of the experience! We will begin by making a small flower vase and will progress to more a more complex project shortly! See student examples below!
Art 2 Happenings!
Art II began the semester with African Masks! They are off to the kiln for the first firing! Finished pictures coming soon!!
Art II is now beginning to work on coil pottery! Be on the look out for very large and pretty pots coming home! And pictures of course coming soon!
VASE!
Each year the art department participates in the Visual Arts Scholastic Event which is a state wide art competition! The competition takes place on February 27th! Be on the lookout for invitations to this event if your student is invited! Students who participate get extra credit!
Do you get your clothes dry cleaned?!
If you do, the art classes using clay would LOVE LOVE LOVE to have your plastic dry cleaning bags to keep our pottery wrapped up safe! If your student brings some in I'll gladly hand out some extra credit!!
