Great Things!
Our students had a successful trip to the state National History Day competition this last weekend!
- David Weeks took 3rd place and also received a special award from Boise State Public Radio. He will be interviewed on their radio station.
- Alexis Donahoo and McKynlee Loftus took 3rd place as well. They also received the Idaho Historical Trustees Prize which is a cash prize.
- Eliza Hobbs took 1st place with her performance about Helen Keller. Eliza qualifies to go to nationals in Washington D.C.
- Aubrey Long and Micaela Loera took 1st place with their group performance about the News Boy Strike in 1899. They also qualified to go to nationals in Washington D.C.

- Thursday, April 19 - Friday, April 20 - Bonneville High School Ballroom team tryouts will be held in the Auxiliary Gym at Bonneville High School from 4-6 pm. On the 19th, students will learn a tryout routine and receive an information packet with all the details for the team. The 20th will be the actual tryout. All are welcome; no dance experience required. Thunder Ridge tryouts will be held at the same time, combined with Bonneville. Any questions, please contact Terri Guymon at (208) 313-2959.

Bus Duty Assignments This Week
TO BE IN COMPLIANCE WITH THE POLICY REGARDING LOADING AND UNLOADING OUR STUDENTS FROM THE BUSES, IT IS IMPORTANT THAT ONE PERSON IS IN EACH OF THE FOLLOWING ZONES DURING YOUR BUS DUTY.
Morning (8:15 am - 8:35 am) - Cafeteria, Commons Area, and Outside.
Afternoon (Please come outside as soon as the bell rings.) - South end of the building, Right out front where you can see toward the south end and north end of the building, and in front of the pavilion near the bus loading. This allows all assigned for bus duty to see all of the major areas where students congregate to wait. The essential area to be monitored is the south end (side) of the building. The first few minutes are critical as far as the need for supervision. If there are four people assigned, the fourth person can help where needed.

New Items to Be Aware of:
- With Parent and Teacher Conferences upon us, please be in your rooms for the conferences (or right outside the door), including elective teachers. The majority of feedback we received from parents is that they liked going class to class throughout the campus. Please don't congregate with other teachers to maintain privacy and keep lines from getting entangled with one another. We will be asking parents/students with the last name from A-F to come from 5:00-6:00 pm, G-N from 6:00-7:00 pm, and O-Z from 7:00-8:00 pm. All are still welcome to come when they are available, but we are hoping this basic scheduling will help reduce lines and waiting time. We will continue to use the BINGO sheets as we have done this year.
- Student Council elections will be starting soon. Please see the dates above for general scheduling. For your information, there will be two representatives elected for Thunder Ridge from RMMS, four representatives (9th grade President, Vice President, Secretary, and Activity Leader) elected for Bonneville, and six positions for Rocky Mountain (President, Vice President, Secretary, Public Relations, Treasurer, and Cheer Representative).
- We are now in the midst of ISAT time! The general schedule for testing will be as follows: April 12-13 (Science), April 16-20 (Math), and April 23-May 4 (Language Arts). We will be meeting with potential proctors in coming days.
- Applications for the 2019 Idaho Teacher of the Year are due by May 25. The application and more information about how to nominate a teacher for this honor are posted online here.
Old Items to Be Aware of:
- Just for your information, Idaho's new accountability system includes a student engagement survey. Schools will need to administer this survey to students in grades 3-8 this school year. The survey questions for middle school students can be found here. We are still working on how we want to implement this survey, but it has been suggested that in middle school students complete it in their Language classes. The survey window will be open from April 2nd to May 31st. We are planning on waiting until ISATs are finished in May before beginning this.
- Please complete your IPLPs and SLOs if you have not already done so. As we approach the end of the school year already, we need to make sure that everything is in order. If you have any questions or concerns on how to complete those, please let us know right away. Thanks!
- You all should have received a training module of sexual misconduct for staff to student. Our district is required to show that each of our staff members participated in training of this nature. It will take about 30 minutes, but it is good training with regard to not putting yourself in an uncomfortable position as well as providing direction as far as what to do if you believe someone else is demonstrating inappropriate behaviors with a student. Please try to complete this as soon as you can.
- We have received the annual car raffle tickets that clubs, groups, and classes can use as a fundraiser. These are really awesome because the group keeps 100% of their ticket sales! If you need some or are interested, contact Thomas in the office.

- With many transitions happening this year and in coming years, the district would like all teachers to know that they can view all available job openings at www.d93jobs.com. Also for your information, they are updating the district hiring procedures so that jobs will only be posted for 7 calendar days.

Grants and Other Opportunities
The Idaho Humanities Council is opening applications for major and mini-grants, research fellowships, and teacher incentive grants for projects and programs exploring literature, history, law, cultural anthropology, and other humanities disciplines. Please find more information here and here.
If you are interested in starting an after-school program to help enrich our students' lives during non-school hours, the Idaho State Department of Education is accepting grant applications for next year. Click on the grant application for more information.
CenturyLink Teachers and Technology Grant Site- Through this program, pre-K through 12th-grade teachers in public, private and/or charter schools in CenturyLink local service areas are eligible to apply for a grant of up to $5,000 to implement innovative technology solutions in their classrooms.
