Escape from war
James Riordan
Short summary
Frank lives in the east end of London. When his father was drafted and his neighborhood had been bombed, Frank escaped to the countryside. When he had got there, he met a German Jewish girl named Hannah and he learned about what was at stake in the war with Nazi Germany.
Theme
I think that the theme if this story is.....
Hopelessness. The reason I think the theme is hopelessness is because Frank just got over a tragedy of bombing and he needs to find hope/peace.
Interesting historical facts
While Hannah is suffering a tragedy of losing her family members, Frank is not understanding the horror of life around it.
I think that for some historical facts the author talks about how she escaped from the war on train to save the English countryside. But I think of how did the bombers and the men that are shooting not catch her sneaking out.
WW2~V1 "flying bomb"
In 1942, The Luftwaffe, aware of the development of a long time range rocket by the German army, began intensive development of a rival weapon.
