Cystic Fibrosis

Cystic fibrosis is a disease that gets inherited and is made up of mucus and sweat glands. Some of the organs it effects are the lungs pancreas, liver intestines sinuses and sex organs. It mostly affects the lungs causing breathing problems and infections.

It is caused by gene mutation. The parent of a CF patient carry one copy of that mutated gene (autosomal recessive). But they dont have to show symptoms of the CF condition.

Researchers modified a cold virus to carry the normal genes to the CFR in the airway part of the lungs

Tests and Treatments

The standard test for those with symptoms is the sweat test, which measures the amount of salt in your sweat . If you have a high salt level, that shows you have CF.
