MIG 1 Bond Anticipation Note (BAN) borrowing

Today the District received the highest possible rating from Moody’s for the District’s Bond Anticipation Note (BAN) that sold on 5/26/22. The BAN was a part of the District’s Bond Project funding. According to Moody’s, “This designation denotes best quality. There is present strong protection by established cash flows, superior liquidity support or demonstrated broad-based access to the market for refinancing.” Similar to the Aa3 rating that the District received in 2021 for its serial bond borrowing, the MIG 1 rating reflects the District’s healthy reserves and conservative budgeting, as Moody’s cited in their 2021 rating. While the community may think healthy reserves are to be questioned, those reserves allow us to maintain a healthy credit rating and therefore pay lower interest on our borrowing than we would with a lower credit rating.
