WE ARE BACK TOMORROW
SCHOOL IS IN SESSION 1/12/23
SEE YOU TOMORROW
I can't wait to see your smiling faces.
Dear SLV Families,
STORM UPDATE – ALL SCHOOLS IN SESSION Thursday, January 12, 2023
We are happy to inform you that all of our school sites have had their power restored. We are finally able to welcome our students back from Winter Break tomorrow Thursday, January 12, 2023. For secondary students, Thursday will be an “O” day and Friday will be an “E” day. (Should the status of power or road closures change by morning and require further school closures, all families will be notified with an “all call” by approximately 6:00am.)
We want to thank you for your support and patience while we worked with outside organizations such as PG&E and Caltrans. Although our schools have fared well during the storm, many of the roads throughout the Valley are still being worked on. For this reason, we ask everyone to take their time in getting to school and for your patience and understanding in regard to traffic. School sites will be accommodating for students arriving late these next two days of school.
PG&E has informed the District that they will have Highway 9 open from El Solyo Heights to the high school light going both directions until around 9 am. They will then close the Northbound lane to continue their restoration.
Finally, as mentioned in the previous communication, the slide on Highway 9 by Highlands Park will not be cleared. As a result, all families traveling South on Highway 9 from Ben Lomond and Boulder Creek will need to take the Glen Arbor loop.
TRANSPORTATION UPDATES 1/11/23:
TEMPORARY SQUIRREL BUS ROUTE CLOSURE
As you know we are short bus drivers. We will need to temporarily close the AFTERNOON “SQUIRREL” bus route beginning Thursday, January 12, 2023 due to driver shortage. The full route is expected to reopen Monday, January 23, 2023. Families affected by the SQUIRREL afternoon closure will need to provide their own transportation home. We understand this is a hardship for families that depend on bus transportation and we will continue to work on a solution. If we secure a substitute driver, the afternoon route will be reopened and families will be notified.
STORM RELATED TEMPORARY BUS STOP CLOSURES 1/11/23 UPDATE (REVISED):
In addition, due to the recent storms and slides the following bus stops are temporary closed:
Lake Boulevard (Lompico)
West Drive (Lompico Park)
These stops will be reopened as soon as it is determined that school buses may safely pass. You are welcome to drop your student off at a different bus stop location.
