Care Package Donation Drive

FHUHS R.E.A.L Class-October 12-October 23

Dear Students, Teachers, and Families of the Slate Valley Unified School District

As of January, 2020, Vermont had an estimated 1,089 people experiencing homelessness on any given day, as reported by Continuum's of Care to the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development. In our school district we have 10-15 students who call themselves homeless. There are some students, however, who don’t declare themselves as being homeless, when in fact they aren't living with their legal guardians. Ms. Benway, Ms. Rice, and I are conducting a food drive to help students who are either coming into school hungry or leaving school hungry. Please come visit us or reach out to us! The food will then be put into snack bags, which will be donated to Fair Haven Concerned, The Fair Haven Police, and all schools in our school district! Our goal is to make 50 care packages that can be given to homeless you and families in need within our community!

We are asking for help from students and family members (local community) to bring in some type of canned good for our food drive for the homeless students in our district!

Please help us make this possible by donating the following...

-Pop topped canned foods

-Packaged crackers or trail mix

-Winter hats

-Youth or adult socks

-Soap or mini shampoo

-Hand lotion and hand warmers

-We will also be willing to take monetary donations! Thank you for your support to help my fellow classmates! We are going to start collecting the week of October 12 - October 23rd! All donations can be dropped off at local drop boxes out front of FHUHS, Fair Haven Town Office, Castleton Village School or Benson Village School!

If you would like to make a donation but can't make it to one of our drop off boxes please feel free to contact Nicole Rice, for pick up!
