Weekly Newsletter
This week, I am excited to shine the spotlight on our Gaining Early Awareness and Readiness for Undergraduate Programs (GEAR UP). Pictured on the left is our ECHS GEAR UP Coordinator, Ismariceli Antonio Rios.
GEAR UP is a federally funded initiative administered by the United States Department of Education. GEAR UP program offers a variety of supportive services like in-class tutoring and after-school tutoring to students in the Class of 2024 (current sophomores) and 2025 (current freshman). We also provide field trips, college visits, and industry sector visits for interested students. In addition to that, we feature college/career counseling and student/parent workshops.
GEAR UP provides FREE academic support both in-person and online numerous times throughout the week (Monday - Friday). Please click on the Academic Support flyer for more information.

- Alternative Household Income Form: This message is a friendly reminder that the Alternative Household Income Form is available online at https://alternativehouseholdincomeform.oside.us. You may have already filled this information out when completing data confirmation during registration. The Alternative Household Income Form must be filled out annually. If you have not already done so, please complete an Alternative Household Income Form. In high school, this information may also qualify students for reduced charges for tests such as Advanced Placement (AP) Exams as well as the Scholastic Aptitude Test (SAT).
- FREE Covid-19 Testing: As a reminder, OUSD provides free Covid-19 testing for our scholars, families and community members. El Camino is one of those testing sites where testing is available from 8:00 am - 3:00 pm on Mondays and Thursdays. You can register online and schedule your appointment by using the following link: https://oside.testscheduler.net/register. Please note that there will be NO COVID-19 TESTING on Monday, September 6, due to the Labor Day holiday. Testing will resume on Thursday with the regular testing schedules: https://www.oside.us/Page/178
- PE Textbooks: If your student is in Team Sports and they picked up a PE textbook at registration, we ask that they return it to the library. They do not need this book. Thanks for you assistance with this matter!
- OUSD Logo Redesign Student Opportunity: The district needs an El Camino student to be a part of the committee that will help redesign the OUSD logo. If this is something you think your student would be interested in, please have them apply. Link to the application
