Next Week is Digital Citizenship Week
Next week let's join forces to educate Hoover elementary students by teaching digital citizenship lessons. We have compiled everything you need in one easy to read document. Be sure to check it out: Elementary Common Sense.

Insert Document Feature
"Insert Document" feature, allows you to drag & drop lots of documents (PowerPoint, Word, PDF and more) into your lessons. Quickly resize so all can see, even the visually impaired.
Fire Prevention Lesson
Fight fires with a blazing lesson on fire safety for Fire Prevention Week (Oct. 9-15). Invite some firefighters and their fire engine to stop in at whatever time fits your schedule through this lesson. Use a portion of content each day or pick out your favorites if time is limited. Learn vocabulary, go over safety standards and have fun. Prepare for the next fire drill and evaluate the last one.

Seesaw PD Follow-Up
Here are some ideas from the PD to encourage quality comments:
- Practice first - use sticky notes on paper posts
- Emphasize that comments allow YOU and OTHERS to grow from responses
- Use the THINK poster to decide when and if to post
- Use the Seesaw posters to encourage digital citizenship when posting
- Emphasize to students that when teachers approve or not approve items, we are their filter until they learn how to do it themselves.
- Use this helpful saying when asking students to comment - "Let's Play Tag" T- tell me something you liked A - ask a question G- give a compliment or a suggestion
Be sure to check out the PD schedule. Don't worry if you can't attend at the time it is offered. Sign up and a recording of the PD will be sent to your inbox!
Around the District
In August, Bluff Park was approved as a Little Bits school. This project is being led by Nancy McGowan. The school status provides an opportunity to be part of monthly challenges, submit inventions, and publish work in a global community. Check out some of their projects!
