From the Desk of Principal Fears

Greetings Fugett Families,

May is Mental Health Awareness Month. Every May, we recognize the national movement to raise awareness about mental health. Together, we fight stigma, provide support, educate the public and advocate for policies that support the millions of people in the U.S. affected by mental illness.

Los Bomberos de la Calle Visit

On Thursday, May 11, Los Bomberos de la Calle visited Fugett Middle School for a performance for our FMS Student Equity Group with guests from English Language Development, Spanish and Percussion classes.

Los Bomberos de la Calle is a Puerto Rican Bomba and Plena music and dance ensemble. During their performance, they shared the Afro-Latino history of the heritage of Puerto Ricans, and how this diverse history influences the Puerto Rican musical arts through the instruments, beats, and style of songs. Students engaged in la bomba dancing, led by a professional dancer & a stilt performer! Much fun was had by students & staff!
