The Case of the Missing 1000 Box Tops: September 28, 2018
Our detectives were not successful this week in finding Box Tops and helping us meet our goal. I need all agents to look carefully on all products and send them in. Our total to date is 900. We are only 100 away from our first goal of 1000 Box Tops. Our first submission deadline is November 1. Please get looking for those Box Tops. Clues for finding Box Tops are to look on items you buy such as cereal, can goods, organic foods, and frozen items. They hide in the funniest places. We need all agents to keep up the good detective work. A list of participating products can be found at link below:

Dates: October 5-7, 2018
During our National Federation of the Blind, Georgia State Convention, we will host an Employment Transitional Training seminar that will give each student the opportunity to learn employment skills such as writing a resumé, job search tactics and work on interviewing skills. They will also be able to talk to companies seeking employees. And hear them talk about what they are looking for when hiring employees. THIS WEEK IN PICTURES
High school student, Ambria is in charge of her very own vegetable garden as a part of Mrs. Thompson’s environmental science class. She has planted radish, broccoli, collards, lettuce, carrots, and beets. All of these vegetables flourish during the cooler months. We are hoping for a big crop!
Residential Advisor, Ms. Denice Lamar celebrated 35 years at GAB this week.
Elementary and Middle School Students awaiting their lunch in the library
On Wednesday, Ms. Layson’s, Ms. Alligood’s, Ms. McDavid’s, and Ms. Barfield’s classes attended the LEGOLAND Discovery Center in Atlanta. The students used Lego’s to build anything they wanted. They made cars, parks, phones, and other creations and had a great time. The students touched and saw many objects made from Legos. Students attended a 4-D film, rode two rides and explored the pirate play area. Some teachers even explored the play area with students. It was a great day of learning mixed in with a lot of fun!
Check out these great articles about Legos from our friends at the National Braille Press:
Last week, Mrs. Rushing’s class just finished reading How to Eat Fried Worms. As their culminating activity, her students cooked up their own “worms” and had a yummy treat. They dressed up their worms with mustard, ketchup, BBQ sauce, and parmesan cheese. The following Georgia Standards for Excellence in Education were fulfilled in this unit:
