Maple Dale PeaceBuilders Shirts Available for Ordering!

We have an optional opportunity for your child to show PeaceBuilder pride! Please click here to order your child's PeaceBuilder shirt. The shirts come in four colors to represent each of the four houses: Rockets = Red, Pioneers = Green, Flyers = Blue, and Mavericks = Yellow. Preschoolers may choose any color they wish!

If you wish to order via check, please send in your check made out to "Maple Dale Elementary" along with your child's name, grade, shirt size, and color preference.

We do have funds set aside to purchase shirts for families who are experiencing financial difficulties. In this case, please email Mrs. Reinke and Mrs. Zellner directly with your child's name, grade, shirt size, and color preference.

We will wear these shirts for special events as well as designate one Friday each month as a "PeaceBuilder Day" to encourage our students and staff to wear their PeaceBuilders shirts.

The deadline for ordering a shirt is Friday, October 13th. We cannot accept any orders after this date!

Maple Dale Peacebuilders: What is Peace?

Dear: Maple Dale Parents and Guardians:

A PeaceBuilder is what a person is inside. It shows how I treat other people. Being a PeaceBuilder reveals my character by showing how I act when I think no one is looking. Being a Peacebuilder helps us all develop good values, the ability to understand right and wrong, and commit to doing the right thing even if it’s a challenge. At Maple Dale, our students and staff are nicer, safer, and more understanding when we are all PeaceBuilders!

We as PeaceBuilders learn how to…

  • Praise People

  • Give Up Put Downs

  • Seek Wise People

  • Notice and Speak up about Hurts

  • Right Wrongs

  • Help Others

This month, we are asking our students and staff the question, “What Is Peace?” Peace comes in many forms and everyone has a different outlook on Peace and how it works. For Maple Dale, we want to know how to bring Peace to our school, school district, and community. This week, we had an assembly to review and demonstrate what “Peace” is and how a PeaceBuilder at Maple Dale looks and sounds. We are also working on T-shirts and “Peace Rocks” that will be displayed in the front of the building. This is a great way to remind us to use Peace throughout our day and our lives.

As always, Maple Dale thanks the wonderful and amazing parents, guardians, and community for building peace everyday.

Peacefully yours,

The Maple Dale Staff!

Maple Dale Glow Run

Heads up – we are putting a twinkling twist on the walk-a-thon this year! Look for GLOW RUN information and collection envelopes in Monday’s backpack mail. Maple Dale PTO’s major fall fundraiser will take place on Thursday October 19. It is an exciting and healthy opportunity for students, staff and families to work together to support our school. Parent volunteers are needed. Please sign up here or contact Heather Parzynski (heatherparz@gmail.com) if you are able to help.

Volunteers Needed for Vision Screening

Are you looking for a fun and short time commitment volunteer opportunity? Please consider volunteering for the annual Vision Screens for Kindergarten, First and Third grades. This is a fun and easy way to get involved. The vision screens are important to catch visual problems early and would not be possible without parent volunteers. No experience necessary. The school nurse will provide a short training during your volunteer time. Please sign up using the link below. Questions: Contact Vanessa Shafer at vdwilhelmus@yahoo.com

Looking to volunteer during the day???? The Buddy Program has grown!!

We are looking for volunteers to come in each week for thirty minutes to work with a specific child or small group of children. These volunteers need to be willing to commit to the same time and day each week. We do understand that things come up, however, our goal with this program is not only to improve academics, but also build a positive relationship with an adult role model. So consistency is key! This year we have expanded beyond just reading buddies.

Reading Buddies- work one-on-one with a child on reading skills.

Math Buddies- work with a small group of children on math skills.

Homework Buddies- help some of our students that go to champions complete their homework.

Each buddy will be provided with a basket of activities, work to complete, books to read, and more. All you have to do is love our kids and show up each week! Sign up for one session, or as many as you would like!

Please fill out the following survey (BELOW) and we will get you set up with a buddy or buddies as soon as possible!

My Energy Kit Challenge

Hello, Maple Dale Elementary Families!

Kilowatt Kitchen is set to visit your school on 10/12/2017. This program is designed to help your children save energy through a fun educational experience—and we know your children will have a blast at the show.

But we have an important goal in mind: we intend to save

10 million kilowatt-hours (kWh) of energy this school year. That may seem like a lofty goal – but we've done it before with the help of participating schools, and we intend to do it again!

To achieve this goal, every family at your school can request a FREE energy efficiency kit for their home from Duke Energy. When your families and staff request and use these kits in their homes, energy is saved – and we can measure it.

We invite your school to take the My Energy Kit Challenge:

save 20,000 kWh by reaching 100 kit requests.

Every school that meets the challenge will automatically win $250.

Plus, your school will earn another $250 for every additional 100 kit requests. And, in December 2017, the school that has requested the MOST kits will win the grand prize of $2,500.

To request your FREE kit and credit your school:

Go to MyEnergyKit.org

Call 1-855-386-9548

We can't wait to perform for your students! See you soon for Kilowatt Kitchen.

The National Theatre for Children

*Duke Energy provides one Energy Kit per household over a 36-month period. Every unique kit request between July 1, 2017 and June 30, 2018 will count toward school rewards. Non-Duke Energy customers can sign up to receive a partial kit. For complete more information, visit MyEnergyKit.org.

Follow My Energy Kit on Facebook for videos, news, and shareable updates for your school!
